ConcealFab Corporation has made significant strides in the Small Cell and DAS markets during 2014 and 2015.

As the DAS and Small Cell markets have gained traction over the last three quarters, ConcealFab’s End-to-End Value Proposition helped our customers meet distinct deployment requirements AND upgrade existing sites.

We look forward to continuing this trend with our full line of integrated poles, antenna poles, mounting solutions, custom concealments, and RF optimization products. These pre-engineered infrastructure solutions are some of the most innovative and easy to deploy solutions available on the market today.

We also look forward to expanding our equipment-integration packages, by integrating radios, BBU’s, diplexers, and wiring inside poles; all while meeting strict sound and thermal restrictions. This allows for expedited zoning and code review process. At the same time, this further enhances our customers’ ability to have their unique deployments HIDE IN PLAIN SIGHT®.

Strategically, we have begun to directly partner with testing and servicing companies to provide our customers with an End-to-End Deployment package – Product, Integration, and Services. This allows us to follow the customer from purchase order through installation and maintenance; making sure that they are receiving the quality which merited us our ISO:9001 Certification. We are also cultivating OEM partnerships with Ericsson, JMA, CommScope, ALU, Amphenol, Kathrein, SOLiD, and Nokia Siemens.

ConcealFab’s line of Integrated Concealment Poles offer sleek, aesthetically-pleasing designs, despite housing some often-bulky equipment. The poles are built using a modular configuration to maximize flexibility for the end user. Such flexibility includes accommodation for the specific equipment configurations and any thermal / sound suppression requirements. The most compact of ConcealFab’s line of Integrated Poles, the 12” pole is a modular, stackable design to accommodate a number of radio configurations. These units were designed specifically for the CommScope ION-M radio, complete with ConcealFab’s patented sound suppression to meet jurisdictional noise requirements in addition to adequate spacing to route all necessary RF and electrical cables/wiring. ConcealFab has also designed an optional back-up power section of the same diameter.

To match the more decorative and ornate light poles in many cities, ConcealFab has developed a line of fluted integrated poles. The smaller 13”-14.5” diameter poles can house a variety of the smaller radios, including: ION-M, ION-U, and low-wattage small cell radios. These poles share the same characteristics of other ConcealFab poles, including our patented sound-suppression system, cable wireways, and sectional design, with an option to do up to a 30’ single-piece pole. These pole also have optional decorative clamshell bases to conceal the anchor bolts and match other existing poles nearby.

ConcealFab’s larger 16” diameter smooth pole can hold a variety of the larger DAS radios including the Teko and the ION-ML, plus it can be retro-fitted to hold some of the smaller radios (ION-M, and ION-U). The largest fluted pole diameter available, ConcealFab’s 17” diameter fluted pole offers a decorative option for the larger DAS radios such as the Teko or the ION-ML. Similar to the 16” diameter smooth pole, it can either be a constant diameter, up to 30’, or be transitioned down to a smaller diameter extension pole above the radio cabinet section. Like the other fluted pole sizes, there is an optional, decorative clamshell base as well as the ability to accommodate any style of luminaire.

Octagonal Pole

ConcealFab’s largest integrated pole option, the Octagonal, comes in at just under 20” across. It is designed to accommodate the largest radios or“mini-macros” as well as the largest DAS units, the Prism and the SOLiD radios. The Octagonal has an optional power section which the radio section can stack on top of before transitioning down to a smaller diameter extension pole. Each radio section can hold up to two mini-macros or one Prism or one SOLiD unit.

antenna polesWhen existing street light infrastructure isn’t structurally adequate to mount the antennas and radios, ConcealFab’s line of Antenna poles could be the answer. We have a vast portfolio of structurally rated poles of all shapes, sizes, colors and textures. Our antenna pole portfolio includes: smooth and fluted, tapered and non-tapered, a typical galvanized finish through a custom concrete textured finish, flagpoles and ornate luminaires, etc. We appreciate that the demands of different jurisdictions can be extensive and our line of antenna poles can certainly help address your deployment challenges.

Cover a multitude of applications in urban and rural environments with our Universal Pole-Top Mounting System, Wide Diameter Pole-Top Mounting Bracket, Side-Arm Mounting System, and Pole-Top Extension Mount. All mounting kits have an optional cable concealment shroud to cover the RF feedline cabling beneath the antenna. Lastly, ConcealFab has a rooftop vent product in case pole-mounted options are not available.


ConcealFab® Universal Cantenna Sleeve

ConcealFab’s Universal Cantenna Sleeve represents the foundational component of our full line of Quasi-Omni antenna mounting solutions. It allows each of our mounting kits to accept a multitude of different antenna brands by adding a simple, low cost, but highly-engineered adaptor. This product single-handedly eliminates your need to design or purchase a custom mount for each brand of antenna. The Universal Cantenna Sleeve has several other advantages that were designed-in based on years of feedback from customer engineers and construction crews. The best part is that even if you don’t find a ConcealFab® mounting kit that works perfectly for you, as long as your solution terminates at a 2” NOM pipe, ConcealFab’s® Universal Cantenna Sleeve can still be paired with your mounting solution.

ConcealFab’s Universal Pole-Top Brackets are sleek, aesthetically pleasing products ideal to a variety of deployment scenarios and engineered for extreme exposure zones. The brackets have adjustable diameters from a 5” minimum O.D. to 8-3/8” maximum O.D. Poles, can mount to steel, wooden, or concrete poles, and adapt to all major quasi-omni antenna configurations. Finally, they are available with an optional cable concealment shroud to seamlessly transition the antenna to the pole, concealing the brackets and RF feed-line cabling from public view.

ConcealFab’s Pole-Top Extension mount is an answer to a unique set of challenges. Challenge #1: In certain situations a Pole-Top mounted antenna will be too close to the existing power lines at the top of the pole and needs to be spaced farther apart.

Challenge #2: PIM sources may be found at or near the top of the pole where additional spacing could mitigate PIM interference concerns.

DAS Pole-Top Antenna Concealments

ConcealFab designed and fabricated more than one hundred DAS pole top units to be deployed in the VA / MD area. Each pole top unit contained a variety of panel antenna configurations, up to 6 panel antennas (2 rows of 3 antennas).

The main challenge with these tightly-packed configurations is the amount of PIM generated from the surrounding antennas. To address these issues, ConcealFab developed a variety of PIM mitigation solutions including: 1. A proprietary PIM Kote™ coating to cover the steel bracketry; 2. Specialized Bracketry to mount the panel antennas to the coated steel, and finally 3. ConcealFab’s PIM Shield™, which affixes to the top of panel antennas to reduce the amount of detrimental residual signal emitted from the antennas. These 3 solutions ensured satisfactory PIM performance across the deployment area.

Lastly, in addition to the structural soundness of the concealments, ConcealFab has an ultra-RF transparent radome / shroud that achieves minimal RF attenuation at low-band, high-band, and microwave frequencies.

ConcealFab designed and fabricated a unique, concealed light pole to be deployed on Boston’s historic Newbury Street. The project entailed concealing two Ruckus WiFi combination radio / antennas in an RF-transparent concealment shroud.

The existing infrastructure consisted of hexagonal, concrete light poles. ConcealFab was not only able to match the profile shape of the existing poles using structural steel, but also utilized a coating system that mimicked the concrete texture of the existing poles.

The RF-transparent concealment also had a hexagonal profile with a concrete texture, which had minimum RF attenuation, was structurally sound, and thermally compliant with the OEM’s required ventilation. Given the high-profile nature of this deployment, multiple city agencies had to sign off on the aesthetics in order to sanction the deployment.

The logistics behind undertaking the physical purchase, installation and maintenance of a comprehensive small cell system only grows as stadium capacity increases. When you take into account Jayhawks Stadium in Lawrence, KS holds over 50,000 seats, trying to potentially cater for 50,000 individual mobile devices uploading an image of perhaps 3MB during a halftime period of 15 minutes – the demand alone could overwhelm a system.

PIM Mitigation Solutions – PIM Shield™

ConcealFab has developed a line of proprietary products that reduce PIM interference in fully-assembled infrastructure solutions. ConcealFab can assemble, test, and troubleshoot any mounted antenna configuration and apply its line of PIM-reducing products to optimize full-system performance.

PIM improvements of 30+ dBC when utilizing the full line of ConcealFab® PIM-mitigating products: PIM Shield™ (RF absorber that attaches directly to the antenna), PIM Kote™ (proprietary coating for mounting structure), and PIM brackets (low-PIM brackets custom-designed to attach the antenna to the mounting structure).
