We had over 250 people attend and countless volunteers provided us with a delicious feast. Thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate our fathers and special persons. Energy Breakthrough Training Camp Last Thursday and Friday our HPV and Push Cart teams participated in a training camp at the Mandurang South Outdoor Education Centre. Our HPV teams rode their bikes to the camp through the Greater Bendigo National Park on Thursday and then participated in further fitness-building rides on Friday. Our Push Cart team participated in various team-building activities during the camp. Thank you to the staff and parents who assisted, and well done to the students on completing a successful camp. Multicultural Day This coming Monday, 12th September, our students will celebrate Multicultural Day. Throughout the day our students will participate in activities that have been designed by our Grade 5 and 6 students and will also enjoy an hour-long performance in the Multi-Purpose Room. Students will be in their GAP groups from 9.15am to 1.30pm and will return to their regular classrooms after lunch. Sport Last Friday our senior basketball teams competed in the Division Basketball Tournament at the Bendigo Stadium. Our students fought hard all day and both teams narrowly missed the semi-finals. What a fantastic effort! Next Monday, seventeen of our Grade 3-6 students will represent our school at the Division Athletics Championships in Flora Hill. The students qualified for this event by winning their events at the District Athletics Carnival in Term 2. Good luck to all athletes! Football Colours Day Next Friday, 16th September our students will participate in Football Colours Day. Students are invited to come along wearing the colours of their favourite football team and are asked to make a gold coin donation. All proceeds will be given to the Neville family as they continue to support their beautiful daughter Leila through her battle with Leukaemia. Our Junior School Councillors will be running footy clinics for all the students between recess and lunch time—11.30 am to 1.30 pm. Road Works The road works between Strathfieldsaye and Bendigo are causing quite a few delays to those travelling to the school, both in the morning and afternoon. Please consider finding an alternative route up until the holidays to help you avoid the lengthy delays. If you are going to be late in picking up your child from school then please give the school a call. End of Term Friday, 16th September is the last day of Term 3. There will be an assembly on the basketball court at 9.15am and students will finish school at 2.30pm. 2017 Classes Next term we will commence our planning for 2017. If you know of anyone who will be coming to school next year and have not yet completed an enrolment form, would you please ask them to collect an Enrolment Package from the office and return the enrolment as soon as possible. If you have a student/s who will not be returning next term/next year, could you also please advise the school office staff? Ryan Edwards, Acting Assistant Principal

Principal’s Report

Dear Families and Friends, Father’s Day Breakfast Last Friday we celebrated Father’s Day with a delicious breakfast before school. Our annual Lapathon will again be held on Melbourne Cup day—Tuesday 1st November on the oval. All students will be involved in two groups: 11.30 am to 12.30 pm—Grades Prep, 1 & 2 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm—Grades 3—6 This is a major school fundraising event and we will be ask-ing students to seek sponsorship from family and friends. As an incentive, awards will be made to the highest money raisers in each grade level. Students will be encouraged to come in sportswear for a gold coin donation towards this fundraiser. Strathfieldsaye Tennis Club Registration and grading days for the summer junior competition will be held on Friday 9th September 4.00 – 5.30 at the courts Saturday 10th September 11.00 – 12.00 at IGA If you are wanting to play this season for our club you need to attend either of these sessions. If you are new to the club it would be better to attend the Friday session so the committee can grade you. Bendigo Little Athletics Season 2016/17 Little Athletics involves track and field events for children of all abilities aged between 5 and 15 held Saturday mornings and some Friday nights beginning on Friday 7th & Saturday 8th October at the Athletics Track, Retreat Road, Flora Hill, Bendigo. Registration is on-line at www.lavic.com.au . The season fee is $130.00. Pick-up of registration pack and number patch is Wednesday 5th October 3.30-6pm at the Athletics Track. In2 Cricket – MILO CRICKET – thanks to Jenny’s ELC will commence Sunday 16th October 10am-11am finishing 11th December. Rated in the top 10 programs participated in, come along and enjoy a great morning that will help develop not only their basic skills of cricket, but the enjoyment of participating in a sport together with many other children of the local community and similar age. We have many boys and girls participating between the ages of 5-8 years of age.
