Learning Experience

Reference Guide

Learning Activities The learning activities have been tailored to meet your needs and will bridge the gap from school to workplace. Emphasis will be placed on virtual development and skill building, leveraging technology and collaboration tools to enable you to connect with each other and support community development, building networks and valuable relationships that extend beyond work boundaries. Throughout the year-long program, you will share experiences and complete a bundle of professional development courses, business cases, and virtual simulations. A final learning event will be provided where you can come together with your peers and demonstrate your new skills and capabilities in a specific business challenge.

This blended learning approach consists of: formal learning, coaching and feedback and experience-based development.

10% of your learning and development will occur through formal learning. Formal learning includes: live courses, web-based events and self-study and provides new perspectives and ideas, and

exposes you to new thinking models and experiences. Formal learning is what we typically think of when we think of “training

and development” in an organization.

20% of your learning and development will occur through feedback and coaching. Feedback and coaching can

occur both formally and informally, and can arrive from managers, co-workers, clients and mentors. Regardless

of who gives it, or how it is given, feedback and coaching helps provide insight

into your strengths in your role, and opportunities to continue your development

in areas of opportunity.

70% of your learning and development will occur through experiential learning. Experiential learning encompasses any learning or development which occurs through on-the-job experiences, tasks

and problem solving.

Associates will partner with an internal resources group NextGen member for support throughout the experience. This will be a one-to-one mentorship, beginning the second month and continuing for the full duration of the program.

This objective of the mentorship program is to: • provide an opportunity to gain broader perspectives about

the organization, its values, expectations and key behaviours• gain exposure to various business groups and professionals• receive relevant and timely career insights

With a focus to build organizational awareness, enhance business relationships and networks and enhance career management skills, associates will meet a minimum of one hour per month, face to face or virtual if required.
