Message from your ISM St. Louis President – Pat Greathouse
Happy New Year!
We are starting a New Year that is full of opportunity. Your Board of Directors has been busy planning the 100 year Anniversary-stay tuned details to be revealed in the next few months. The Education Committee is also putting together a seminar for the spring; we will keep you posted on the details and seating will be limited, so be sure you sign up early. ISM is also hosting a webinar on Jan 27 and it is free! I hope to see everyone at the February 23 meeting. It is going to be an interesting one on the “Top 10 Challenges of Cloud Computing”. It is a breakfast meeting at Greenbriar Country Club; registration starts at 6:30 am.
Please save the date for March 22 at Spazio’s in Westport. We will have a Joint Dinner Meeting with APICS. You will have an opportunity to network with our colleagues and hear Donald Broughton speak on the state of the economy.
Stay tuned to the website for March. We will be hosting an exciting seminar on the 7 Steps to Strategic Sourcing. Spaces are filling fast for this event and you will want to make sure you don’t miss out on this great opportunity.
The board is also continuing to look for volunteers to help continue to make your affiliate strong and bring programs the membership continues to find interesting. Please let your board members know if you are interested in hearing about a topic.

Supply Manager of the Year
The St. Louis Supply Manager award is given annually at the May general membership meeting to a member who has made outstanding contributions to ISM St. Louis over the past year. The general membership and Board of Directors is encouraged to submit nominations to the Committee.
We are currently seeking nominations of for the Supply Manager of the Year. We are looking for an ISM
St. Louis member who has made outstanding contributions to the local affiliate over the past year.
Please send the nominations to Helena Hartwein Vice-President [email protected]. Helena
will be accepting the nominations up until April 1, 2016. Then Helena and her committee will begin the
selection process and the award will be given in our May meeting.

helps feed 57,100 people each week! In order to achieve this, it takes the work of many volunteers!
Volunteer! You can make a difference in your community! Area families and seniors depend on the
food that each volunteer sorts, boxes and repackages.
We had a lot of fun and success with our events last year. This year we are planning for another
team event in November. Save the date and register today!

What are the requirements for CPSM?
Requirements for CPSM Certification include:
Three years of full-time, professional supply management experience (non-clerical,
nonsupport) with a Bachelor’s degree from regionally accredited institution or international
equivalent
OR
Five years of full-time, professional supply management experience (non-clerical, nonsupport)
without a qualified Bachelor’s degree
AND
Successfully pass three CPSM® Exams.

Founded in 1915, the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) was the first supply management institute in the world. Throughout the past 100 years, ISM has served and guided the supply management profession within the global marketplace. ISM is considered to be a highly influential and respected association, providing industry professionals and organizations with extensive education, research, publications and highly regarded certifications. ISM - St. Louis has a rich history and was founded in 1916. This year is an exciting year and will mark the 100
th
anniversary. Be part of history as a volunteer in a prominent influential organization. Position: Volunteer Committee Intern Description: ISM St. Louis seeks volunteer interns to assist with one if it’s volunteer strategic planning committees in order to aid the organization in fulfilling its mission. The intern may assist with education, finance, marketing, membership and/or professional development efforts. Responsibilities: • Assist volunteer planning committee board members with planning, strategy, and events • Champion ISM St. Louis events to others and within the community •Help manage outreach using social networking tools • Participate in volunteer board meetings and events as requested • Assist with planning and facilitation of Volunteer Committee and Member meetings including distributing agenda and taking minutes • Other duties as assigned by ISM St. Louis Board of Directors Qualifications: • Enthusiasm for the mission of ISM St. Louis and networking • Recently completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Business, etc...) • Previous internship or related experience either as a volunteer or managing volunteers is a plus • Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel) • An effective communicator, both written and oral, and a willingness to network and be part of an exciting organization • Willingness to provide recommendations to enhance current programs and processes • Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space Start Date: Position open until filled, requires a 6 month minimum commitment. Hours: 8 – 12 hours/week virtual. Attend approximately 2-3 meetings per month, as requested. Compensation: This is an Unpaid/Volunteer internship. ISM St. Louis will provide you with an affiliate membership and you will have mentorship opportunities with ISM St. Louis Board Members along with networking opportunities with ISM St. Louis members.
