There is only one mould for each Hartford nuptial occasion, which means we never repeat the same act twice.Your wedding is a reflection of your own distinct personality,

and it's our job to ensure that shines through in the individuality of the occasion. It's what separates us from the crowd, and is perhaps the single-most significant reason why, decades after they first tied the knot, couples still return, year after year, to celebrate their anniversaries "at home".Our services include the complete co-ordination and arrangement of your wedding, the accompanying feast or banquet, floral, photographic and make-up arrangements, as well as the engagement of musicians, bands, and where necessary, an introduction to a minister of religion.

The Hartford ChapelDesigned and built by a senator, the last prime minister of Colonial Natal and the first prime minister of South Africa, the Hartford Chapel came from humble beginnings. It was the foundation of what is now NCD Dairies, the continent's largest dairy business, and the tethering rings for the cows that graced its hallowed confines, still line its historic walls. Today it serves as a multi-denominational facility serving not only local religious communities, but also the weddings and memorial services of Hartford's guests.

Housed in the premises of our School of Excellence, our convention centre and wedding venue caters for parties of up to 150 guests, in the most spectacular stone clad facility under Midlands thatch.

Alongside, our forty seater theatre is equipped to connect

business people to the world, and offers every technological aid you would expect of a world class venue of its kind. It is also favoured by bridal and birthday parties for the viewing of “memory lane” DVD or video footage from the past.

Fold-away doors and windows command vistas over a cascading series of lakes at the foot of the garden, while the cool of winter is offset by underfloor heating throughout.

CHAPEL

MUSIC can be arranged to suit your taste, whether for the chapel, a soloist, string quartet, a school or Zulu choir, bag pipes etc. The same applies to the reception and post ceremony drinks and canapés. Favourite is our troupe of outstanding Zulu dancers who have ranked among the best at the World Traditional Dance Championships.

COCKTAILS AND CANAPES may be served in the garden, post ceremony. These beverages will be quoted according to hotel rates and are subject to change, as dictated by our suppliers.

We have the names of various denominational MINISTERS or licensed wedding officials. Once you have decided on Hartford House as a venue and the type of wedding service you require, we will supply the appropriate contact details, if needed.

You may want to use your own FLORIST or you can liaise with a recommended florist regarding choice of flowers, style of arrangements and cost. These would be discussed with you in detail when liaising with our florist.

PHOTOGRAPHERS - Hartford House is happy to recommend photographers who are well acquainted with our facilities.

MENUS - Our executive chef will be happy to discuss your wedding menu with you. This will enable you to select a menu that personalises your style of eating, and enable you to enquire about your favourite dishes. Menus include canapès served pre-lunch or dinner.

BEVERAGES - Hartford House has a large range of local and international beverages available. We unfortunately do not carry a corkage fee. Hartford has a five star wine list as voted by Top 10 Restaurant Guide, which has a large range of some from the country’s finest wine growers.

WEDDING CAKE - Our chef is able to bake a variety of artistically designed wedding cakes. You may wish to send us a picture or brief description of your style of cake and we would then quote you on this, dependent on your style and choice.

FACILITIES - The Manor House is able to accommodate more intimate functions or weddings up to 50 guests. For bigger events exceeding 50 people we recommend the use of the School of Excellence.

MISCELLANEOUS SERVICES - Hairstylist, make-up artist, horse and carriage, vintage car hire, trout fishing, clay pigeon shooting, golfing, ballooning, horse riding, Wellness Centre etc. can be arranged. We have a range of excellent service providers to make your special day and all your requests an unforgettable experience.

WELLNESS CENTRE - Holistic massages, therapeutic treatments and relaxing facials available for the bridal party and guests. Prior booking essential. Come and indulge with us as we relax your body and mind with holistic therapy in a peaceful, tranquil environment. Just what you need before your wedding ceremony.

Our Accommodation Rates

Please note that the following Rates are Valid from January 2016 to December 2017:

This secures the venue for the duration of your wedding; it is then deducted against the charges for your wedding.

This amount is returned to you once a full stock take of the venue has been completed.

Hartford has always been known for its unique décor, flair and style. This carries through to our 15 suites and hotel rooms. In order for us to ensure you have complete exclusivity during your wedding we ask that you occupy the entire hotels accommodation for the Friday and Saturday nights on a double occupancy basis.

MAY TO AUGUST - WINTER RATES Hartford offers a reduced rate on the accommodation for you, your family and guests for your wedding weekend. The total cost for the weekend’s accommodation is charged at R55 950.00 on a sharing basis inclusive of breakfast.

Kindly note that a single supplement may apply.SEPTEMBER TO APRIL - SUMMER RATES Hartford offers a reduced rate on the accommodation for you, your family and guests for your wedding weekend. The total cost for the weekend’s accommodation is charged at R68 940.00 on a sharing basis inclusive of breakfast.

The breakdown of the different suites rates can be given to you on confirmation that Hartford House will host your wedding.

Most couples syndicate the accommodation out and we are happy to assist with the allocation of these deposits and final bills, all the accommodation must be confirmed 4 months prior to the wedding. Any guest’s suites not occupied or settled by your guests remains the responsibility of the bridal couple to settle on departure.

We offer the honeymoon suite complimentary on the night of the wedding.

Some of our suites have twin beds (Suites 4, 6, 7) these can be made into king beds.

Children: We are able to accommodate a limited number of children at Hartford House (6 children), we have stretcher beds/mattresses available, our garden, pool and lakeside suites are better suited for families with children.

Bride and Groom discretionWe are very happy to assist the bride and groom by bringing in specialised beverages, kindly note that all beverages requested by the bride and groom that do not form part of our inventory will be charged to the main account, for the couple to take home with them upon departure.

Our chapel can seat up to 100 guests. Chairs for both the Chapel and Garden Ceremony must be hired separately, we can arrange chairs on your behalf - this can be quoted separately.

The Question of GratuityAt Hartford we pride ourselves on providing you and your guests with a world class service. We truly believe that our offering is second to none and with that comes great dedication and commitment from the entire team to ensure your wedding weekend is nothing short of memorable. We apply a 10% gratuity charge on the final food and beverage amount for the wedding.

We charge R 65.00 per hour per babysitter, and R 210.00 per hour per babysitter after midnight. Please arrange for a babysitter in advance. (limited to 3 children per babysitter - this is dependent on the children’s ages).

We charge R 210.00 per hour per staff member after midnight - cut off is 2amA minimum of 6 staff members are required after midnight, dependent of the amount of guests and at the discretion of management.

We charge 20% on anything booked and paid for by Hartford House for your wedding (service providers).

For a guest list of more than 150 guests, additional surcharges will apply. These venue hire rates include the Chapel or Gazebo for Garden ceremonies. Please note we don’t supply chairs for the ceremony, however we are willing to assist in hiring them on your behalf.

Hartford House is an extremely popular wedding, venue and we restrict the number of weddings we host. In order to secure your special weekend wedding, we require that you settle the Non Refundable Deposit - to secure your booking - within 2 weeks of selecting a date.The balance, which comprises of the value of 2 days’ accommodation on a double occupancy basis, is payable 3 months prior to your wedding.The Venue Hire is payable within 4 months of your wedding date.Bride and Groom can settle deposits either by credit card or EFT - Proof of payment must be supplied - this is the client’s responsibility.In the event of non payment of a deposit, the Hotel reserves the right to cancel the booking without notice or liability to the client.

You are required to use our restaurant on the Friday evening.Our meals are plated menus.Babysitters are available, at R 65.00 per hour per babysitter and R 210.00 per hour after midnight (no more than 3 children per sitter).Cut-off time for the venue is 2am - however if guests become unruly and there is an increase in breakages we reserve the right to close the venue.Bride and Groom to please confirm in writing the time they require the bar to stay open until.We have a no corkage policy, we are aware many people have connections in the wine industry but we ask that you don’t bring in any alcohol. We are more than happy to assist with sourcing your perfect wine.

Cancellations & variations must be made in writing - We will attempt to accommodate variations whenever practical and reasonably possible.Venue Hire: - No Arrival No Refund - 7 to 12 Weeks’ notice - subject to a 25% handling fee - 4 to 6 Weeks’ notice - subject to a 50% handling fee - Less than 4 weeks’ notice - No Refund

This is required 2 weeks before the wedding, this is the minimum amount you will be charged for - should the number rise, the hotel will charge for the additional numbers, but should your number decrease we will have no option but to charge you the confirmed number.

Payable on departure. We will invoice you on the Monday before the wedding, once final numbers have been confirmed, and all other expenses are payable on departure.
