Getting Started
What If?On your way to school, you see a young girl playing in the street. The girl is alone, and you are the only person nearby. You see a car coming and you shout at the girl to get out of the street. She doesn’t hear you, so you run to her to pull her out of the way of the car.
The next thing you know, the girl’s mother is hugging you and thanking you for saving her daughter. There is an article about your heroic deed in the morning newspaper. Dozens of reporters come to your house to interview you. Everyone in town is now calling you a hero.
Make notes about how this would affect you.
• Would you feel like a hero? Why or why not?
• What would you say to the news reporters?
• How would all of the attention make you feel?
Connect to The Exchange Question Discuss how this situation could relate to The Exchange Question: Do heroes make themselves, or are they created? Summarize your discussion.
