The Portage College Public Legal Education Program (PLE) is a public service initiative offered by Portage College in partnership with the Alberta Law Foundation. Our services range from providing seminars and workshops on legal and justice related topics, to networking and partnering with service agencies within the region to address justice/legal needs of area residents, to providing a legal resource directory and public legal education information (PLEI).

Our 2015-16 PLE Resource Directory is a listing of legal resources for North Eastern Alberta. It is published every two years with grant funding from the Alberta Law Foundation. It is available through our office or can be downloaded at PLEonline.ca (where you can save to smartphone, tablet or computer). Listings include provincial services, Legal services in Alberta, lawyer listings, RCMP and Victim Services, community services, Aboriginal communities & resources, and PLEI resources.
FINDING GOOD LEGAL RESOURCES
One of our program objectives is distributing Public Legal Education Information (PLEI) and to meet this goal, we will be offering a session that walks you through websites that are helpful for finding answers to your legal questions.
This session will direct you to dependable sources of legal information; help you assess the reliability of legal information; explain the difference between legal information and legal advice; and tell you where to find legal advice and representation.
Participants will also receive a copy of the PLE Northeastern Alberta Resource Directory.
Join us on April 17th at the courthouse in St. Paul to learn about the law and some of the legal institutions that form the cornerstones of Canadian democracy. More details coming soon. Watch for posters or log on to PLEonline.ca for details!
