Welcome to the 7th Annual Westgold and guest, Kuzio Farms, bull sale. The cattle business has never been better with the cattle numbers in North America at a low and commercial cattle prices at an all-time high. With the cattle numbers so low, prices are expected to stay high for a number of years. It has always paid to buy the best bulls you can, especially if you raise your own replacements but even more so now with calves selling at record prices. With steers bringing as much as $2000 and some heavy ones as much as $2350 a good bull will more than pay for himself with his first calf crop. Our sale offering is very strong with a real good selection of red, black and fullblood bulls to satisfy even the most discriminating cattleman. There are bulls with a little extra calving ease bred in them for heifers on your second calvers and there are bulls with incredible thickness and performance that still have moderate birth weights that will sire thick steers with heavy sale weights and heifers that will be at the top end of the replacement pen. These bulls are quiet, thick, beefy, long bodied herdsires bred to work. Many are homo polled. He was on display at my bred heifer sale last fall and has had many admirers all summer, fall and in the bull pen this winter. Low-set, wide-topped, huge butted, tons of middle, good footed, big nutted, dark, dark cherry red, homo polled breeder bull. His dam, CMS 722T, is a top end cow that should be flushed. In my 2011 sale she had a feature bull out of my NCB Right On 8L bull, who was a high seller going to Anchor Lazy U. I kept semen on him and his calves are thick, deep bodied calves. She has three daughters in my herd. The full sister that is just two is identical in colour and quality. Last summer when Scott Bohrson toured the bred heifer pasture she stopped him in his tracks. I remember him saying “Is that ever a deep, long bodied, interesting heifer.” She’s also homo polled and needless to say was not in my sale last fall. She has a homo polled, dark red Gambler 12Y bull calf at side now, that will be a feature bull next year. So consistency is in CMS 722T. Now his sire NGDB Wet Dream 6W speaks for himself. His bull calves are number one in my bull pen every year. I had six of them on display at my female sale last fall. Ask Dan Skeels what he thinks of the Wet Dream calves! This is the third or fourth time one of her bulls has vied for lead off position, and last year a grandson was lead off bull. Her calves have not always had the same sire but she brings in a breeder quality calf every year which makes her a cow that has earned the right to be flushed. The sign of an outstanding sire is one that doesn’t just sire one or two top end bulls but an entire pen of great bulls and that is exactly what Wet Dream does. Analyze all of his calves and you’ll see they are a cut above the rest. I would say Wet Dream is one of the best kept secrets out here in the west. Wet Dream was reserve champion 2010 Farmfair; SImmental bull calf and Champion 2010 Lloydminster over all breeds. So when you breed a cow like KHG 40N to a bull like Wet Dream there is no guess work, you’ve got a true breeder quality herdsire in the making. Obviously retaining semen on him.
