We have 48 tickets to cover both adult and student entry. Whilst we want the students to have a great day and have an awesome experience, clearly many parents are keen to go because of the nature of the event; which is cool. The Board and I (based on a real need for a Working Bee around the school) have a ’price’ for adults. We would like to exchange a V8 Supercars ticket for your support at a Working Bee (date to be before Christmas). We have many projects big and small that require your skills and man/woman power. As we do not employ a caretaker at the school, a spring clean of the grounds often falls to just a select few. I would really like to see a big turnout from parents - many hands make light work. Some of the projects include: Painting the swimming pool Planting the fruit trees Re-concreting the rebound wall by the field A tidy up in the bush area General cleaning up of the gardens Cleaning out the gutters Washing down the school buildings We would like our working bee to be a great social day too, with a BBQ, some refreshments and a chance to chat to your neighbours while giving back to the school. The board and I appreciate that many people often give of their time (for fundraising etc) and that everyone is busy. The reality is though that the jobs need doing and all fundraising efforts will go to waste if we have to employ people to do these jobs. To find a date/dates that work for people, please text me your preferred date. All (light-hearted) notions of bribery for the V8 tickets aside, even if you are not interested in going to Pukekohe, we really need your help at the working bee. I never knew the phrase ’I’m tied up with work’

could be so literal! Being taped to the tree was fun (for the

kids) and despite Mr Whiteman’s proposal to me to be tied up

somehow failed to mention the water balloons, I actually

thought it was a good laugh... someone has to be the

entertainment! Silly things like this can help the kids get to

their camp and creates great ‘remember when…’ moments.

Interest in the V8 Supercars trip is pretty hot. We

have 48 tickets to cover both adult and student entry. Whilst

we want the students to have a great day and have an awesome

experience, clearly many parents are keen to go because of the

nature of the event; which is cool. The Board and I (based on a

real need for a Working Bee around the school) have a ’price’

for adults. We would like to exchange a V8 Supercars ticket

for your support at a Working Bee (date to be before

Christmas).

We have many projects big and small that require

your skills and man/woman power. As we do not employ a

caretaker at the school, a spring clean of the grounds often

falls to just a select few. I would really like to see a big turnout

from parents - many hands make light work.

Some of the projects include:

Painting the swimming pool

Planting the fruit trees

Re-concreting the rebound wall by the field

A tidy up in the bush area

General cleaning up of the gardens

Cleaning out the gutters

Washing down the school buildings

We would like our working bee to be a great social day too,

with a BBQ, some refreshments and a chance to chat to your

neighbours while giving back to the school. The board and I

appreciate that many people often give of their time (for

fundraising etc) and that everyone is busy. The reality is

though that the jobs need doing and all fundraising efforts will

go to waste if we have to employ people to do these jobs.

To find a date/dates that work for people, please text me your

preferred date.

All (light-hearted) notions of bribery for the V8 tickets aside,

even if you are not interested in going to Pukekohe, we really

need your help at the working bee.

Cheers everyone

Terry

PAEROA LIONS FIREWORKS DISPLAY

On Saturday 31 October 2015 our club will be holding its 26th Annual Fireworks Display at Paeroa Domain with gates opening at 5..pm.Our aim is to provide a night of family entertainment with a great fireworks dis-play at a reasonable price. We can now confirm that an internationally rated troupe of skateboarders will be put-ting on a display commencing at5.30pm. We will open the gates at 5.00pm. This year we have also been able to attract a food stall selling Mussel Fritters. We will be acknowledging “Halloween” in a moderate way, with children dressing to mark the occasion having the op-portunity to win prizes.Despite these additional activities we are retaining entry at $15 for a family ticket which covers 2 adults and 2 children. We use the services of a longstanding Auckland fireworks display provider and there is entertainment as well as food and drinks availa-ble on site. NO ALCOHOL OR PERSONAL FIREWORKS ARE ALLOWED ON THE GROUNDS..FIREWORKS CAN BE LOUD AND WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU USE EARPLUGS OR SOME OTHER DEVICE TO REDUCE THE PERSONAL NOISE LEVEL WHEN THE FIRE-WORKS ARE BEING DISPLAYED. We will do our best to have some earplugs available for sale at the gates.

Torehape Room

Mr Casey has been teaching on

Thursday mornings in Torehape

Room (which he loves doing).

They have been looking at making

colour / shape / and number

patterns (the beginnings of

Algebra).

Today Mr Casey asked the

students what they loved about

Kaihere School and what we could

do to improve it:

What we love “Counting backwards in maths” - Rylee

“Making stuff” - Luke

“All the teachers” - Teigan

“Having friends” - Navanah

“Mr Casey” - my man Liam!

What we could do to make it better

“tractor tires to play with”

“playground tunnels”

“A BIG tidy up”

“a tire swing”

“roller blades for everyone”

“everyone picking up their rubbish”

“an old tractor to play on”

“new books”

“more slides and swings”

“no pushing”

These are great ideas from our youngest

students and we want some (or all of them)

to happen.

Ngarua Room Mrs P. has set up a cool new listening

post system through the computers,

where students can hear a journal story

being read and they read along.

We have also started athletics. Students

are going out in the afternoon and prac-

tising their high jump, long jump and

shot put..

Mangawhero

Room This term Mr Casey has challenged us

to research an experiment and perform

it in front of the class. We have started

looking at web sites and in books that

have really cool science experiments,

such as playing with dry ice, exploding

volcanoes, self-propelled boats and

cars, and experiments with electricity.
