Get Outside
Promise yourself that this year you will get more
fresh air • Do something outside every day • Walk your dog every morning • Take up a winter sport like skiing
or ice skating
Check out the GREENEST
colleges
Get Healthy
This is your year to quit bad habits
• Make sure every meal has a fruit
or veggie component • Quit soda • Stop skipping breakfast
Don’t skimp on the quality of your life…
Get the Grades
Tis the year of good grades
• Stop procrastinating, make a valiant effort NOT to leave anything until the last minute
• Stop listening to music while you study (unless it’s Mozart, of course)
• Actually listen in class (put your phone away) if you learn it in class, you won’t be teaching it to yourself later
Get Out There
It’s time to put yourself out there
• Start saying YES • Join a new organization • Each week, do an activity you’ve
never done before and see what cool stuff you’ve been missing
Get Lost
A new year means new places
• Explore your home, find a new hike, park or restaurant each week
• Take a roadtrip with friends and have a day full of adventure somewhere new (upstate, the coast, mountains, nearby city…)
• Walk without your phone’s GPS navigating you
Get Cooking
Take advantage of a stocked fridge and stove
while you can
• Cook for your family once a week
• Ask your mom to teach you 1 recipe per week
• Learn how to bake a cake from scratch
Colleges with food so good you won’t
think about cooking
Get Reading
Step away from the TV
• Read the classics • Ask your family to share their
favorite books and challenge yourself to read them this year
• Read before bed each night
Get Writing
Don’t forget to document your new experiences
• Keep a daily journal • Write down your dreams every
morning • Make a bucket list, write down
your goals for the year and keep a wishlist of your wants and needs

writing skills is here
