Here at Sway Dance Center we pride ourselves on prepared and informed dancers/parents. While this packet might seem overwhelming at first glance every question you might have about our recital process is answered here.

The key to a successful show is following protocol and keeping up with deadlines so take a moment to pull out the calendar and copy dates.

• Your dancer’s costume will be sent home with your dancer. If your dancer is absent a parent/guardian must come to the front office and pick up costumes in person. If any costume or costume piece is lost/dropped/damaged it CANNOT be replaced. Each and every costume bag has been triple-checked for all your dancer’s costume pieces; once the costume bags leave Sway we are not responsible for lost or damaged costumes or missing or damaged costume pieces. Dancers are not allowed to perform in the recital without their costume. All balances including tuition and any late fees must be paid in full for your dancer to take home his/her costumes. All costumes will have been tried on in your dancer’s class-time as they arrive and fit to our satisfaction upon releasing them to you. If your dancer’s costume does not fit to your satisfaction, you may use a tailor of your choice and at your expense to perform any alterations.

• Costume/Make-up Instructions will be provided online at www.swaydancecenter.com under the “Recital News” Tab on April 1st. It is important that you take note as to what color tights and shoes you will need to have for the recital. These instructions are detailed to your dancer’s specific costume.

•Hair and make-up instructions and demonstration videos will also be published to our website April 1st.


COSTUME WEEK: Costumes will go home with your dancer the week of April 6-11th. Families must have a zero balance for the year

to take home costumes, no exceptions.

NON-DRESS REHEARSAL : ACT ONE - NO COSTUMESDate: Monday April 27th 2015 Location: Sway Dance Center Call Time: 3:45pm Rehearsal Time: 4:00pm-8:00pm • Please have your dancer in Studio 1 at 3:45pm • All dancers will run Act One in order of the show twice at Sway Dance Center. We will begin with the Finale both times.

After your dancer has been dismissed, he/she may leave. We cannot estimate what time your individual dancer will be finished, however, you may drop off your dancers at 3:30 and pick them up at 8:00pm. You may send your dancer with water only.

• No food allowed; bottled water only- we have dancers with SEVERE FOOD ALLERGIES!

We look forward to a fabulous show with comfortable and prepared dancers onstage, therefore ALL OF THESE REHEARSALS ARE MANDATORY. If you have a major conflict, please let us know via email at [email protected] as soon as possible.

DVDs of Saturday’s performance are available to purchase through LeniCam Productions online. A Link is provided at www.swaydancecenter.com for your convenience. Both the Starlight Show and Dance Kaleidoscope shows are included in each order. LeniCam Productions will mail your 2015 DVD directly to you. SWAY DANCE CENTER DOES NOT HANDLE DVD ORDERS OR THE DISTRIBUTION OF RECITAL DVDS.

DRESS REHEARSAL : Full Costume, Hair & Make-upDate: Saturday, May 2nd, 2015 Location: SMU McFarlin Auditorium Call Time/Dancer Drop-off: 8:30am Rehearsal Time: 9:00am

· Dancer drop-off is located in the Main Lobby of SMU McFarlin Auditorium. At the dancer drop-off your dancers will be escorted to their dressing room by Sway Staff and Dancer Volunteers. Please make sure your dancer ARRIVES IN FULL HAIR AND MAKE-UP with labeled costume pieces. Dancers may only have bottled water in their bags. Please feed your dancer a good breakfast BEFORE this rehearsal as NO FOOD IS ALLOWED BACKSTAGE.

· Parents are NOT ALLOWED backstage before or during Dress Rehearsal or between Dress Re-hearsal and the 1:00 show.

· All dancers must stay backstage during dress rehearsal through the dress rehearsal Finale. Dancers will be dismissed from stage for lunch break. They may go to their dressing rooms to change quickly out of their last costume into warm-ups/rectial t’s/etc. Parents may coordinate with other parents or meet their own dancer in the LOBBY with lunch for their dancer at 11:30am. We encourage all dancers to leave belongings and costumes backstage in their assigned dressing rooms during this break. Sway Dance Center and SMU are not responsible for lost or misplaced items. If your dancer’s costume is lost between Dress Rehearsal and the Recital they will not be allowed to perform at the Recital. Again, please pre-label all your dancer’s items. We discourage any dancer from leaving SMU McFarlin premises between Dress Rehearsal and the Recital, and if a dancer leaves they must be accompanied by a parent. We encourage all dancers to stay on site and have their lunch brought to them in the lobby. We want dancers to quickly eat then get backstage to reset and reorganize for the show. Once dancers return backstage, they are not allowed to leave until dismissed from stage after the recital finale. DANCERS AND PARENTS PLEASE DISCARD OF ALL LUNCH TRASH RESPONSIBLY keeping the lobby clean for the show!!! DO NOT EAT IN COSTUMES!!

· Parents are welcome to stay and watch Dress Rehearsal. · Photos and videos of your dancers are only allowed to be taken at Dress Rehearsal, PLEASE NO

Ushers will be taking tickets and guests without a ticket will not be allowed through the auditorium doors. Online ticket purchase is for your convenience and organization at the recital venue.
