A MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD PRESIDENT

Our Board PresidentFellow Island Schoolers,

Two years ago, my wife, Robin, and I were lucky enough to have “bookends” at The Island School—our son, Josh, was enjoying the awesome experiences that Betsy and Mike cultivate in 5th Grade, while our daughter, Emily, was just beginning her journey in Kathy’s magical Kindergarten classroom. It was truly a special

time of both joyful reflection and unbridled excitement for what was yet to come.

As I look today at my kids, it’s impossible to miss the positive influence that The Island School has had on their development. I see it in the empathy and inclusion they display with their friends and classmates. I see it in their love of animals and our Earth. I see it in their inquisitive nature and in their joy of learning new things. And I am so grateful to the faculty and staff at The Island School for helping instill those values along with a truly excellent academic education.

This kind of education would not be possible without the generous support of families and friends of The Island School like you. As a current parent, alumni parent and Board President, I wholeheartedly encourage you to join me in supporting our school’s Annual Fund and our unflinching dedication to serving the academic, social and emotional needs of each and every student who comes through our doors. A MESSAGE FROM OUR HEAD OF SCHOOL

Our Head of SchoolDear Friends and Families of The Island School,

“What do you love most about The Island School?” was the question we posted on an easel tablet at the Carnival. Here are just a few of the responses: “Happy, engaged kids; my class; Market Day; Punkin; teachers; recess; community; the band; everything!”

Every day I witness what The Island School achieves for children by actively engaging them in their own education with master teachers who guide them through a world of discovery and learning. Our school is a rich and wonderful place that cultivates healthy, thriving children who are confident, competent, creative and curious. Just as important as their academic experience is the tangible sense of community that reminds them daily of the importance of being part of something larger than themselves.

Here we not only value our children, we also value the many adults who provide generous support in every imaginable arena at our school – whether reading to children, working in the library, organizing events, landscaping our gardens or serving on the Board. These priceless gifts of service make so much at The Island School possible. Without your help, our children’s experiences would be greatly diminished because we could never afford to enrich the education to the extent provided by our generous volunteers.

Your support has gone well beyond volunteering. Your contributions make so much possible: funding financial aid; providing amazing classroom resources; supporting professional development for teachers; maintaining our beautiful campus, to name just a few.

I will probably never find words to fully express how deeply grateful we are to each and every one of you, but we will continue to try. From our hearts to yours – thank you for helping us create a world of opportunity for each child at The Island School!
