Our Speaker Becky Wood once considered herself organized, tidy, and calm. Then she had four sons in the span of six years. Today, she strives to find peace in the chaos,

happiness in the clutter, and joy in the clamor. When she's not shuttling boys between sports practices and

washing an endless supply of dishes, she's writing. Becky is a freelance writer whose works have been

published in MomSense magazine, Indy's Child, Dayton Parent, Cincinnati Parent, Travel Indiana, and Zionsville

Town Post. She was a member of the 2014 Listen to Your Mother Cast with her essay, "Confessions of a Boy Mom." Becky lives in Zionsville with her husband Chris and their brood of boys. A dog may soon be added to the family, but she refuses to welcome a pet snake.

Prayers Please pray for the Donnelly family during this difficult time. She is feeling your prayers.

Pray for Danielle Smith’s mother Margot as she is having invasive surgery in her throat. And pray for a speedy recovery.

Pray for the health of our country as we all work through difficult and challenging times. Pray for peace, strength and support.

Mentor Musings Happy Fall! I am hoping to put aside my dislike for cold weather, dark mornings and flu shots, and look forward to the beautiful colors, upcoming holidays, and of course, pumpkin spice lattes this time of year brings. It isn’t easy I’m a summer girl!

Now for this month’s topic, I have to admit I find the timing of this theme ironic. Flourishing Friendship. I picked the Bible verse weeks ago, and I wish I had read it about 100 times before I had a falling-out with a friend.

“You must understand this my beloved, let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.” James 1:19

We have all been there, feeling tired, a little emotional, and something happens that makes us snap! Suddenly, the world is against you and that friend is your target. How could she do that? What she said was so hurtful! Doesn’t she see what she did? STOP, breathe, listen and pray. Be slow to anger. Not so easy, is it? Ah, but so very necessary! God wants us to take time to flourish our friendships. He has given us these women to support us, make things a little easier as moms, and to remind us how we are loved by more people than just our needy little ones (and big one) at home. Our friends stem from many different circumstances and times in our lives. Growing up, college, work, preschool, PTO, church… We drift from some and hold tight onto others. A few friendships will always be dear to us even if we only see each other in passing. We must cherish each and every one of them. Let us be the friends God wants us to be. In Proverbs 17:17 it says, “A friend loveth at all times.” Do we really have time in our busy lives for loving all of our friends? You bet! It doesn’t take much more than a quick text or a card in the mail. Maybe you can get together for lunch, make them a meal in a time of need, or best of all, say a prayer to lift up that friend any day, anywhere. Last week I ran into an old friend at the high school football game. We had a quick hug and a chat before we had to part. That night she sent me a text saying how despite the fact we don’t see each other often, she still cares about me and hopes we can reconnect soon. That text meant the world to me! That was all it took for her to show me that I am loved! So let us try to remember to hear God’s word for our friendships; be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger, and love at all times. If you slip up like I did, just dust yourself off, make amends and try again. God is there to help you!

Wishing you God’s blessings,

Catherine

Getting to Know: this month we ask some members of the Red Table

What are some special things you do to keep your friendships flourishing?

Heather Jansen: Technology can definitely be isolating, but so can motherhood, so I really do value texting with friends, especially when days are busy and we can't talk on the phone or meet in person. I actually set an alarm on my phone for each of my closest friends on a different day of the week to remind me to pray for that person or encourage them that day. I love voice texting and really try to send a quick voice text if something makes me think of one of my friends. I think it's important for my kids to hear me send a message that I am thinking of or praying for a friend when I am. That way, at least they know what I'm doing with that device in my hand.

Jessica Gray: My friends and I have created our own traditions throughout the year.  Each person hosts a different holiday, but hardly ever on the actual holiday.  Each year,  my best friend hosts a 3rd of July party,  my husband and I host a Halloween costume party,  another friend has a Friendsgiving, and we do a Fake Christmas slumber party.  We know these events are happening and we schedule life around them in order to enjoy each other's company.  The greatest part has been watching our gatherings grow as we start our families and invite new friends each year.

Karie MacDonald: I am grateful for friends that do not let distance determine friendships! I have some amazing friends in other states and countries and although we may not see each other for years we still have a great friendship and are there for each other.

Jennifer Weintraut I try to connect with my best friends at least once a week.  When I am on the car by myself I usually call a friend.

Door prize Thanks Special Thanks to Jodi Prihoda for our door prize today! Norwex offers an extensive line of cleaning and personal care products to support that mission and save you money!  Norwex microfiber cloths are all composed of high quality microfiber measuring at least 1/200th the size of a human hair.. All those tiny fibers go to work on your surfaces to give you a real clean using ONLY water, which eliminates the need for harsh chemicals that can leave behind nasty residue.  On top of that many of our microfiber cloths contain microsilver, an antibacterial agent for self cleansing purposes. The microsilver particles embedded into the fibers of the cloths inhibit the growth of bacterial odor, mold, and/or mildew within the cloth. Once inside the cloth, the micro silver goes to work with self-purification properties against mold, fungi, and bacterial odor within 24 hours, so that your cloth is germ-free and ready to use again. This line of cleaning products will save you time & money, improve health, and move towards creating a better environment. Not ONLY will the norwex microfiber cloths make your surface shiny, they will also mechanically CLEAN your surface, removing up to 99% of bacteria. The Envirocloth with only water removed more than peroxide, lemon, vinegar, Clorox, and 409. Once the cloth is rinsed well with hot water and hung to dry, the microsilver goes to work inhibiting the growth of any bacteria remaining on the cloth which means, NO MORE STINKY DISH CLOTHS!!! Please contact Joni at 812-449-0953 and look at her website www.joniprihoda.norwex.biz if you would like to purchase or host a party. She will also be a vendor at our shopping night tonight!
