“FOR THE RESIDENTS, BY THE RESIDENTS”
Happy St Patrick’s Day March 2015
Many Four-Leaf Clovers
Many four-leaf clovers and endless skies of blue,
I’m wishing these and health and happiness for yours and
you.
May St. Patrick’s Day bring all you’re hoping for, and where
you find a rainbow may you find many more.
May the Good Lord bless you richly all of your days, and
touch your life in many beautiful ways.
Irish Toast
May you be poor in misfortune
Rich in blessings
Slow to make enemies
Quick to make friends
But rich or poor,
Quick or slow,
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward!
Wishing you the luck of the Irish and a Happy St Patrick’s
Day!
Few Irish Sayings
There are good ships and there are wood
ships that sail the sea, But the best ships
are friendships, and may they always be.
May you always have work for your hands
to do
May your pockets hold always a coin or
two.
May the sun shine bright on your
windowpane.
May the hand of a friend always be near
you.
And may God fill your heart with gladness
to cheer you.
Wherever there are friendly smiles, hope
they’ll smile on you
Whenever there is sunshine, hope it
shines especially for you to make each day for you as bright as it can be.

Southfork's HomeOwners Association Dinner Party
While picking up my mail a few weeks ago I was approached by Roger Layne,
Roger is a board member. He personally invited me to an Appreciation Dinner
for HOA members.
The date, time and menu was displayed on my invitation. Please rsvp
so we will know how many will attend. I accepted immediately, would love to
come, time and date were perfect. I'll be there, thank you.
On the given night I approached the club house anticipating a wonderful
buffet. Doors opened, we were courteously seated with friends and
neighbors.
To my surprise, my wait staff arrived, actually preacher Curly Culpepper
asked what I might like to drink. Several choices were available, and
choosing sweet ice tea, my cup never ran dry.
Soon, like a fine oiled machine, the wait staff from the kitchen began
serving each of us a nicely displayed dish of ham steak, scalloped potatoes,
green beans, cold slaw, delicious dinner roll and a delightful looking
brownie.
Soon, there was nothing left, absolutely delicious.
Soon the tables were cleared and the wait staff prepared to do the same for
an additional 80/90 residents.
Thank you officers, board members and spouses for working so very hard for
us. Very, very much appreciated.

Southfork Women’s Club March Meeting
March 4th, 2015
9:30am, meeting followed by the entertainment.
All women in Southfork are invited to our entertainment for the month of March
which we will be entertained by the “Zephyr Sound”, ladies barbershop chorus.
There are 18 women in the group who all live in Zephyrhills and quite a few are
snowbirds hailing from Canada, New York and Maine.
They share a love for music, and that’s why they joined “The Zephyr Sound” and
they entertain around the East Pasco County community. They sing without any
musical accompaniment.
They sing songs such as “Let there be Peace on Earth” and they sound like angels
in harmony using only their voices. Their repertoire includes old time songs,
patriotic tunes, blues numbers, hymns and selections from musicals. Their shows
last about 30 minutes and include as many as seven to nine songs.
At the end of each season, the non-profit group donates whatever money it
hasn’t needed for expenses to HPH Hospice Foundation.
Please consider coming to our March meeting and there will be a sign up sheet so we know
how many to plan for. Refreshments will be served!
Women’s Club
On Feb. 4th, 45 ladies met at the Clubhouse for their monthly
meeting. The clubhouse was nicely decorated with a Valentine theme.
Thanks to Mary Jane Barber, Maggie Dull, Diane Stricklin and M. J.
All the Minutes and reports were read and approved.
Mary Bolin read a thank you note from Cornerstone. We mainly talked
about our fundraiser of Feb. 15 we are getting ready for it.
We celebrated the February's birthdays Mary Jo Dye and Jeanne
Bittman.
Our speaker was Jeanne Bittman who is a nurse and her subject was
"stress" what a nice presentation she did. She explained how to
reduce stress in our life and what stress means:
Severe, Tension ,Reducing, Energy, Spirituality, Sanity
It was very informative and helpful. Thanks Jeanne for a wonderful
presentation.
Willie Stoever was our Librarian for 20 years, what dedication. Thank
you Willie. Katie Bellnier and Louise Murray will be replacing
her.
Next month on March 4th we will be entertained by the Zephyr Sound
Ladies barbershop Chorus. We have a sign up sheet for that meeting to
know how much refreshment to get.
Our hostesses will be Pat Dicks and Brenda Knight.
See you there

Sick/Prayer List
The sick list that I have in the newsletter each month usually and has always been for only
the people who were actually admitted to the hospital and was not a listing for rehabs etc.
I got to thinking about this and there are many who are homebound with visiting nurses,
hospice and or sent to nursing homes and they also need the prayers from everyone to get
well fast.
So from here on in I will accept any names of people from any of the areas listed above.
Thanks, Phyllis Grossi [email protected]

A SENIOR ALPHABET!!!!!
A is for apple, and B is for boat, that used to be, right, but now it won't float! Age before beauty is what
we once said, but let's be a bit more realistic instead.
New Alphabet:
A's for arthritis; B's the bad back, C's the chest pains, perhaps car-di-ac?
D is for dental decay and decline, E is for eyesight, can't read that top line! F is for fissures and fluid
retention, G is for gas which I'd rather not mention.
H high blood pressure--I'd rather it low; I for incisions with scars you can show. J is for joints, out of
socket, won't mend, K is for knees that crack when they bend. L 's for libido, what happened to sex?
M is for memory, I forget what comes next. N is neuralgia, in nerves way down low; O is for osteo,
bones that don't grow!
P for prescriptions, I have quite a few, just give me a pill and I'll be good as new! Q is for queasy, is it
fatal or flu? R is for reflux, one meal turns to two.
S is for sleepless nights, counting my fears, T is for Tinnitus; bells in my ears! U is for urinary; troubles
with flow; V for vertigo, that's 'dizzy,' you know.
W for worry, now what's going 'round? X is for X ray, and what might be found. Y for another year I'm
left here behind, Z is for zest I still have-- in my mind!
I've survived all the symptoms, my body's deployed, and I'm keeping twenty-six doctors fully
employed!
HAVE A GREAT DAY !
Southfork Entertainment
Well, from "The Dance" to "Turn The Page" we again were
thoroughly entertained by Moses and his wife Stephanie Fisher.
If you missed the "Orange Blossom Special" you certainly missed
the train. Stephanie plays second to none on her fiddle. We
even had Ole Willie Nelson stop by for a song or two.
The Greyhound Band had many residents up and dancing to a
variety of songs. A good time was had by all.
On a more serious note, beware, I hear there may be a "Cougar"
on the loose in our Southfork community!!!! Lol

Something We Should All Think About
A philosophy professor stood before his class and some items in front of him. When the class began,
wordlessly he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks,
rocks about 2” in diameter. He then asked the students if the jar waws full. They agreed that it was.
So, the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar
lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks. He then asked the
students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up
everything else. He then asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a
unanimous yes.
The professor then produced two cans of (beer) from under the table and proceeded to pour their
entire contents into the jar—effectively filling the empty spaces between the sand. The students
laughed.
“Now,” said the professor, as the laughter subsided, I want you to recognize that this jar represents
your life. The rocks are the important things—your family, your partner, your health, your children—
things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The
pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything
else. “The small stuff.”
“If you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued, “there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks.
The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never
have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to you
happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out
dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the
disposal.”
“Take care of the rocks first—the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.”
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the beer represented. The professor smiled.
“I’m glad you asked. If just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s
always room for a couple of beers.”
And you asked………………..

7TH ANNUAL HAND AND FOOT TOURNAMENT
The annual Hand and Foot Tournament was held on Saturday, 1/24/2015 at the clubhouse and was
again a great success. There were forty (40) entrants and the tournament started at 11am.
Everyone brought some type of finger food and we had 3 full tables set up and what a feast of
goodies including sandwiches, various entrees and desserts and coffee. In between and during the
games, everyone took advantage and munched on all the goodies. It looked like a gourmet spread
with so much food and it developed a great party atmosphere and there was enough goodies to feed
the entire community.
There was a lot of quiet and anxiety at first and when everyone was seated and relaxed, you could
then hear the giggles, chatter and laughter start and then the fun began. It s all in the cards and
well………..we seen what happened and who the winning teams were and there were a few penalty
points on some of the score sheets.
I want to thank Marielle Quain for helping the checking in of all the entrants and passing out the
rules with seat position’s to each person. Both Phyllis & Marielle did all the verifying of the sheets
and totaling them to make sure all was correct and to see who all the winners were going to be. I
also want to thank my husband, Pat Grossi who kept the coffee going and helping with the food
tables and helped where needed. Thanks also to all who helped in the folding of tables and helping
the clean up. Thanks to John & Sandi, for set up!
Here are the winners with a total of 10 people winning a total of $200.00:
$35 each to Gladys Cline & Anita Warschkow. 27,030 points
$25 each to Pat Fisher & Nancy Jones 25,825 points
$20 each to Kathy Tabor & Betty LaForest 25,650 points
$15 each to Carol Quandt & Jane Martens 24,970 points
$5 each to Helen Stowe & Dot Cady 22,585 points
Stuffed Bears to Tony Trubiano & Joyce Wiseman……Honorary last place 17,275 points
So all in all, a big thanks to everyone who entered the tournament, brought food or helped in
anyway. It was a huge success and everyone is looking forward to next year already. A successful
event is only made when you have great participation!

TO OUR EXTENDED FAMILY AT
SOUTHFORK
By now I am sure that all of you have heard the “rumor” that Sherry and I are moving
away from Southfork. We have purchased a beautiful home over in Citrus county on the
gulf coast of Florida on 2¼ acres.
It is with heavy hearts that we leave our “family home” which has been the Florida
residence of the Morvatz's since Elmer and Betty moved to Southfork in 1993. Many of
you older residents might remember that Elmer did the charity auctions for just about
any occasion here in the park and you all might recall Betty's professional singing voice
which still resonated from her well into her 80's.
Elmer and Betty were very involved in the daily activities of the park and it was
Elmer that initiated the many bus trips that were taken out of the park by a most of the
original residents. Elmer and Betty both passed away in 2006 and I moved in to
Southfork shortly after that from Sunset Beach, North Carolina.
Sherry and I also wanted to be active here in the park so that is why I joined the
homeowners association and sat on the board in many capacities and like to think that I
was instrumental in a lot of special events that were held here in the park for several
years (and yes I was “The Roving Reporter”). Sherry developed her own special niche
in the fact that she just loved to clean some resident's homes and then sit with them for
an hour or so just to visit.
When Sherry started her cleaning business that left me sitting at home so that is when
I started doing fix-up chores and repairs for everyone. Sherry and I both just hope that
whatever services we provided for almost all of you were done in a prompt, satisfactory,
professional manner and that our efforts met or exceeded your expectations.
Sherry and I developed many dear friends during our years of residency here and will
always cherish the memories of them and the trips (cruises), birthday parties, special
occasions and other events here in the park.
Godspeed to all of you who still travel to summer homes away from Southfork and
good luck to all of our neighbors and friends who live here year round.
Sincerely,
Sherry and Jim Morvatz
