One of my first attempts at

modelling a vehicle, the first time

round it was too simple and I was

advised to give it more life and

character, to also put it into an

environment. Well that is exactly

what I have done, I returned to this

model, revamped the textures

completely by adding mud and

doing more in-depth research to

layering textures to create better

more unique materials. It now has

mud and it renders quicker then

before without losing any quality.

After completing the

Chevrolet Truck,

modelling vehicles had

become a lot easier,

allowing me to finish this

on my first go.

This project was more of me adjusting to the 3DS Max controls and layout,

while at the same time, completing and extra piece for my port-folio

One of my early projects right out of

University was working as a 3D Artist

for an ambitious Mod Team, I was

tasked with creating a Lizard Warrior

to be used as a template for more

Lizard types. Having just been

researching anatomy for a previous

project this gave me an opportunity to

test my knowledge and my skill in

Mudbox.

I like to keep my skills sharp, so when

I see an interesting piece of

concept art (far right by Greg

Baldwin at CreatureBox), it spurs me

on to make it and then maybe

animate it too. This is another model

I re-visited after taking advice to

push the textures and add life. I

had a lot of fun making him, learned

how to position and think in

advance how I want him to move.

Most importantly I learnt how to rig

a mechanical character.

If you know me in person then you

will know that I carry a note book

filled with ideas, stories and great

worlds. One idea of mine set in a

fantasy world very similar to

Venice stuck with me. Although this

piece could use more life and

energy I was able to achieve the

architecture that I sought.

Hopefully I will be able to make

time inbetween projects to return

to this and give it the proper

attention it deserves.

Good vs Evil

A project of my own that I

have started some simple

designs and believe I can

make this into an interesting

animation or game. Very

slapstick humour, taking a lot

of influence from ‘Tom & Jerry’

violence as well as ‘Despicable

Me’ style and animation.

One new skill this has allowed

me to learn is how to work with

hair and using the plug-in

‘Shave and Haircut’.
