Welcome Kankakee Community College student athletes, parents, supporters and fans!
As we begin the 2014-15 academic year at Kankakee Community College, there is an energy and excitement ac-companying many changes in the past and current calendar year We have relocated the South Extension Center in Watseka, the North Extension Center is open and houses our Workforce Ser-vices and adult education programs as well as being the site for our massage therapy program, the Manufacturing and Industrial Technology Center on Rt 45/52 is open and the welding, technol-ogy, and other classes are running at capacity Plus, we have just received funding for the construction of an Ad-vanced Technology Education Center
Adding to those operational occur-rences is the change in our staff with a new vice president for instructional and student success, Dr Michael Boyd, who joined us in May, and is already making a difference in the lives of our students with his leadership of our faculty
We have been fortunate to watch the continued
success of our athletic teams, and you see a great deal of pride as you walk the halls of the college
The student-athletes of KCC live our motto to “Start here. HEAD COACH MICHAEL BARCLAYMike Barclay is in his first year as head coach. He was the assistant coach
for the Cavaliers for the 2012 and 2013 seasons Coach Barclay was a three-time all-region, two-time all-sectional and two-
time all-state goalie for Downers Grove South High School (1983-85) For three seasons, Coach Barclay played collegiate soccer for Eastern Illinois University in Charleston Coach Barclay still ranks no 1 in saves percent-age, no 2 in goals against average and no 3 in total saves in history at EIU, an NCAA Division I school In 1989, Coach Barclay lead the Panthers to the NCAA Division I National Indoor Championship for the first time in school history He also played for one season in the semi-pro Chicago Metro League
Barclay was the goalkeeper coach for Olivet Nazarene University of Bourbonnais’ women from 2002-12, assistant coach for KCC’s men’s team in 2012 and 2013 He has coached recreation teams, travel teams and high school programs for 14 years Barclay has a U S Soccer Federation (USSF) “E” certification.
ASSISTANT COACH JON PILLIONCoach Pillion comes to the Cavaliers with a very diverse background/history
in soccer He was part of multiple state and national championship competi-tions during his youth playing career Eventually, Coach Pillion played for Essex Community College in Baltimore, and James Madison University in Virginia
Coach Pillion has been an instructor/coach since 1991 for various clubs, camps and high schools in Virginia and Illinois He also is the director of coaching for the local travel club Southland FC He currently holds a U S Soccer Federation (USSF) National D License, U S Youth Soccer National Youth (Y) License, and a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National Diploma (2014)
Coach Pillion and his wife, Kim, have five children and they live in Che-banse The Pillions are natives of Northern Virginia who relocated to Illinois after 12 years of service with the U S Navy

levels As a player for Rich South High School, Coach Ashby received sev-eral recognitions as a center back One notable honor was National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) defensive player of the year As a club soccer coach, Coach Ashby has trained players of all ages with many of his players continuing on to the collegiate level Coach Ashby is licensed through the NSCAA and U S Soccer Federation (USSF) with specialties in goalkeeping and agility
