Turning wrecks that were once beloved projects into the beloved vehicles that their owners envisaged.

The team consists of a variety of skilled enthusiasts selected from the car industry, car clubs and TV presenters, who will either assist the owners or take over completely in reviving a lost dream.

The Estimator will vet potential projects to evaluate their suitability for the show, the workload required and the expected cost. It is anticipated that classic cars will require a different skill set to customs and vans, and a third person may be required for kit and race cars.

The Mechanics skills may depend on the age of the vehicle, older cars requiring carburettor and ironwork skills, while more modern cars may need more electronics.

The Body workers for classics and customs may need more skills like lead filling while fibreglass and filler might be more appropriate for kit and race cars. Welders will always be welcome.

Electricians skill requirements may range from rebuilding a magneto to installing remote locking to trick lighting to in-car games consoles.

Paint and Interior workers needs may range from the perfectly smooth finish of a fifties classic to the extensive murals of a custom van with pin striping potentially being applied across decades of vehicles and internal finishes in leather, wood, carbon fibre, velour or whatever materials are appropriate to the build in question.

Parts Finders, Wheels and Tyres can involve a team willing to scour the Internet and travel the country to access and procure the required items either new or used.

Lastly Legislation is constantly changing particularly with the need to follow EU directives. While all cars are required to follow basic safety rules, these vary according on the registration date and class of each vehicle.

Depending on their age some cars may exempt from seat belts, some from windscreen washers, others from indicator lights.

Kit cars that have not been registered may be subject to rules that require design changes.

Race cars are subject to yet other rules depending on their use.

It will be a requirement of the programme that even if not all the legal issues are addressed, they are noted and the owner (and viewers) informed of any requirements.

The show will consist of a major project where the team assess the problems, rectify them and finally present the finished vehicle.

This is optionally punctuated with other projects where the solution was cheap and / or quick, providing a collection of ideas and fixes for viewers.

Depending on their circumstances, the outlay of the project, the level to which they allow the team a free hand and the end result, (not to mention the commercial success of the programme) the owner may be asked to contribute to all or part of the cost.

Alternatively, owners who would just like to clear their garages could donate / sell the vehicle to the team to restore / finish and then auction, the profit going to a nominated charity or into the funds for future projects.
