The two Group 3 series have attracted strong support, and Friday’s Semi-Final did not disappoint in producing sensational show downs for next Saturday night. The Centrebet Magic Maiden runners opened the program, with Vinny Kruger claiming the first event for trainer Mark Azzopardi ahead of Kool Mac in 30.12. The win starting Azzopardi’s weekend on a high note, with the kennel hoping Saturday, March 23 Golden Easter Egg Semi- Finals can produce the same result for Jagger Swagger. Proven Group trainer, Jason Mackay continued his dominance of Wentworth Park, with Zipping Simba claiming the second New Sensation qualifier, in the mixed affair over Tollo. Mackay won the Centrebet Magic Maiden in 2011 with Martin and Fiona Hallinan owned and bred greyhound, Zipping Man, the Richmond Vale trainer now sits in a commanding position to emulate the effort two years on. The third Semi-Final was an all the way performance for Chevy Silverado over well supported Clonakilty Man in a speedy 29.69. While in the final qualifier, Black Rip continued to show the importance of early speed at the Glebe Circuit leading all the way in the fourth semi over Clockwise and heavily backed race favourite Tricky Jade. With the Maiden greyhounds qualified through to next Saturday’s Group 3 final, worth $25,000 to the winner, it was the Macro Meats New Sensation Semi Finalists to take to the track next. Johnny Fire for Trevor Hagney took the opening run off over the fast finishing Haven in 29.88. An impressive display, Johnny Fire picked up early leader Helena Izmir through the catching pen and managed to hold off Haven which challenged late in the piece. Fastest heat winner, Fast Archer continued his strong run of form, again winning in an all the way performance for young up and coming trainer Clay Mullins. Continuing the trend of all the way wins, Jane Carruthers prepared Charmed Assassin was dominant in the 29.87 victory over Cawbourne Classy. While in the final Semi-Final Jason Mackay’s runners were at it again with One Inch Punch chasing down Lachlan Loaded. The win giving Mackay at least two finalists on Saturday, March 30, with a further three chances lining up in tomorrow’s March 23 meeting.

Australia’s next stars headlined Friday’s (March 22) meeting at Wentworth Park, with four Semi-Finals of both the Macro Meats New Sensation and Centrebet Magic Maiden being conducted. The two Group 3 series have attracted strong support, and Friday’s Semi-Final did not disappoint in producing sensational show downs for next Saturday night.

The Centrebet Magic Maiden runners opened the program, with Vinny Kruger claiming the first event for trainer Mark Azzopardi ahead of Kool Mac in 30.12.
