    PHS Staff,

I hope this note finds you enjoying a restful and rejuvenating summer with opportunities to enjoy family and

friends as well as pursue some personal and professional projects and interests.

Over the years we have changed many things in the name of improving the learning experiences for our

students. This year will see those changes continue with the implementation of our Program of Academies and,

of course, the building of our new school.

My experience has taught me if we have too many goals going forward, we forget where we are headed. Tokeep us dialed in I see this year being focused on three main goals:

Continuing to build strong relationships with students and their families. We want to continue tobuild on the changes we experienced with Challenge Day, and the positive feedback we received from

individually reaching out to our school community.

Making our Academies come to life. We have received a grant that will help us work to tie ourcurriculum to our students vocational interests. Helping our students find a passion and helping them

pursue it will be a journey worth making.

Google Apps integration. App? Whats an app? We have been lucky enough to procure someresources that will allow us to bring Chromebooks into our arsenal of tools to engage students.

Student research and creation will become more efficient and widely available throughout the school.

The building has been outfitted with some new wireless equipment and we are planning on some

teacher training so our students can take advantage of the new equipment.

I have to admit, it only takes a couple of weeks of summer for me to miss the kids and the hustle and bustle of

the school year. I am ready for it to start!

    A couple of important dates:

Tiger Training (Freshman orientation) will take place on August 8 from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

New teacher orientation will be on August 9 beginning at 9:00am at the high school in room 11.

The 2013-14 school year will officially kick off on Wednesday, August 14th

at 8:30am at the annual breakfastsponsored by the Church Women United at Lakeridge Christian Church. We will follow that with an opening

    staff meeting. Thursday the 15th,

will be the first day of student attendance. Students will be dismissed at 11:30that day and we will have an afternoon in-service. We will also have an 11:30 dismissal with afternoon in-

    service on the 16th

    .

Lets make 2013-14 our best year yet,

    Dave Meister
