“You feel that warm cosy comfort of home when you look out from the window, even though there is snow everywhere. A clean white freshly washed blanket of snow, with extra plush to make your heart feel warm. I wanted to catch that excitement within everyone of us, when it snows!”

Welcome to our village! We have been around a long time…over 50 years! The Village Gallery of Arts was founded in 1963 by a group of 10 artists who shared the idea of having a working, teaching gallery—a place for exhibition and instruction. Today, we are home to more than 150 Oregon artists. Several of our artists have been with the gallery for many years and some are just starting out. We enjoy a diverse group of artists and artisans, who create fine works of art in virtually every medium. We offer a variety of classes and workshops for all ages and abilities. Classes change according to community interest and needs.

In this giving season, we hope you’ll brighten the holidays for your friends and loved ones with one-of-a-kind, locally-created art, or the gift of an art class!

We welcome you to learn more about us online at villagegalleryarts.org.

This time of year...The “sparkle” of the holidays is always inspiring and reflected in my jewelry.

I have been making jewelry for over 10 years and absolutely love it more as I discover new techniques. This year I’ve discovered Makume Gane with polymer clay, a technique derived from Japanese sword making in the 18th century.

Sterling Necklaces $38Classic Style Sterling Silver necklaces made with Swarovski Crystals. They are adjustable in length from 16 ½” to 18 ¼”. These necklaces are elegant but simple enough for everyday and make a fabulous gift.

Hair Pins4 small for $10; 4 medium for $12

Put some “bling” into your holiday with Hair Jewelry made with Swarovski Crystals. Great stocking stuffers!

Earrings in assorted styles from $5 to $30I use Sterling Silver Earwires and components. They are about two inches long and lots of fun!

This time of year...Lots of yummy goodies this time of year! I like being able to snuggle and get warmer when it is cold outside. Since becoming an artist, I love the Fall colors and snowy landscapes.

I paint and teach painting to students of all ages. I learned to paint in 2004 and after a year it was clear this is what I am supposed to do in life. My favorite subject is and always has been trees.

This time of year... My favorite part of the holidays is playing Secret Santa to a family in need, and they never know who it was! It brings me great joy!

Art is healing. My pieces show emotion and complexity, yet are simply stated. I am mischievious, yet serious. I am always so delighted when a piece of my art gets adopted and finds a new home in your world.

Lazy Susans10 inch- many styles $50 eachInlay mosaic tile on a bamboo base. Tile is either recycled windshield glass, handmade or commercial blend. No two are the same but all are heat resistant for hot items. Grouted and sealed.

This time of year...The best thing about Portland’s long rainy winter is that because it forces me indoors, I’m able to finish many paintings in the winter months of December and January.

I am a watermedia artist who paints in acrylics and watercolors. My favorite subject is fanciful women in everyday settings, but I also enjoy painting still life subjects and landscapes.

Eileen MillsapI love the vivid beauty of glass, how it melts and fuses together, and also the fact that when I’m done not only do I have a thing of beauty but I can serve desert on it too!

VillagesFused glass, 4.5 x 9.25 in., $10-$50.The quirky village holiday dishes were inspired by family stories of life in small villages . Places where the shutters were closed at night and the wolves and cold winds were kept at bay.

JerusalemFused glass, $75I was inspired by a trip to Jerusalem where the skyline was glowing by day and sparkling at night. So much depth of beauty and time that it was dif-ficult to grasp the historical enormity of the place. Every time I would cut a piece of glass for my dishes I would go back to there in my thoughts

This time of year...Fall brings the beautiful colors of the landscape, followed by Christmas greenery along with the warmth of family and home. A time to remember those who are challenged by difficult times and those who are serving our country. A time to make fudge.

My passion for oil painting leads me to create

colorful scenes and a sense of fun throughout

my paintings. I love the beauty of a landscape or

still life, and then sometimes become distracted

for a run at some humor in my work. My joy is in

the viewer engaging with my work.

Aditi Kajrekar-DongreI create paintings that reflect my love for nature. I find beauty in

simplest things in nature. I always love to experiment different

medium and textures. I believe they play all by self on the paper, you

just need to guide them in a way you want or they are beautiful all

themselves.

My Hometownframed 15 x 18.5 in., $300This is my home town, so nostalgic! About a decade back, I found a photograph and tried to capture the whole Cityscape. Still whenever we have monsoons in India, it feels as though the whole ground is washed, shiny new blades of grass, all lush green everywhere, fresh smell of soil, sure enough to wake you up with the crisp air.

Cannon Beach$200We were on a day trip and I couldn’t resist the beautiful waves shining like gold in the beam of sunshine! There’s something about this beach, it’s sure to cheer your mood up!

African Violets framed 12.5 x 16.5 in., $200Sitting in my Kitchen window, they looked so pretty and delicate even when they were not blooming. Surroundings are black and white as I felt the African Violets breathed the life.

This time of year...My sons and I have collected a tree full of Old World Christmas glass ornaments, and every year we add to the collection. It is an annual tradition to visit Miki’s Christmas Shop at Shafer Vineyard Cellars in Forest Grove and select ornaments that represent special memories and events from the previous year.

Many years ago I learned several methods of bookbinding, and spent time making various kinds of hand bound books and journals. Now I spend most of my time watercolor painting, but still enjoy the paper folding and cutting that book binding involves. When I really want to play, I enjoy creating whimsical, colorful animal illustrations with ink and watercolor.

Giraffeink, watercolor, pencil, 8x10 in., $40Original hand-drawn, hand-colored ani-mal illustration created with ink, watercolor and colored pencil. Matted to fit standard size 11x14 inch frame.

Notepad Folios handmade/handbound $20These handmade, hardbound folios make great gifts, alone or filled with postage stamps and a few notecards. Each folio contains three pockets - two for notes, busi-ness cards, a book of stamps, etc. The third pocket holds a small legal pad, which can be removed and replaced when a new one is needed.

This time of year...The sounds of the season are what I like best. Everything from old, familiar Christmas carols to the soggy squish of boots on fallen leaves drenched by the Oregon winter rains.

Colors and textures draw me in. I thrive on embracing the spirit and emotion of a simple moment. I use digital artistry with my photography to feature the heart of each captured moment.

Framed Art Tiles 6x6 in., porcelain tiles with wood trim $16Use them as a trivet, stand them up or hang them on the wall.

Dahlia Decophotography on aluminum, 12 x 16 in., $165Dahlias are such elegant delight in the garden. I am stunned by their deep and richness of color. The sun parches and fades most things but no, not the dahlia.

This time of year...Christmas ornaments are always a delight for me! Some vintage ornaments bring back special memories of family, good food, treats, and warmth. Another treasured memory was my mother baking many different kinds of special cookies for the holidays. We would give them to friends, neighbors and family before Christmas.

I have been doing egg art since 1972. At one point

when visiting Japan, I learned the traditional

technique of wrapping egg shells in Washi

papers. I pursue art and fine craft work because

each endeavor seems to inspire more ideas and

creativity and I can not stop the process.
