BackgroundXenoantigenicity of Porcine Decellularized Valves

• Bioprosthetic valves fail• immune response?

• Decellularization should blunt

• α gal vs non α gal xenoantigens

MethodsXenoantigenicity of Porcine Decellularized Valves

• Porcine aortic valves decell with 1% SDS

• Implanted into 3 sheepopulmonary position

SummaryXenoantigenicity of Porcine Decellularized Valves

• Evidence of IgG and IgM reaction

• Increased complement concentrations

• No T-lymphocyte role

Conclusions

• Antibody and complement reaction to xeno valves

• Clinical implications are unclear and require further study

• SDS decellularization does not remove non-alpha gal antigens

• New products must be evaluated for antigenicity to ensure durability
