Every New Mexican should makeit a personal goal to explore anddiscover our magnificent state withtheir family and friends. And whatbetter place to begin an adventure intoour state than to schedule a tripthrough the Golden Triangle Tour andnorthern New Mexico! There is a reason why the GoldenTriangle is referred to as New Mexico’s“backyard playground.” It is soabundant with a diversity of re-sources. The rich history, the deeprooted culture, values and traditions, combined with the beautiful naturalenvironment are just a handful ofqualities that make this northernregion so appealing for residents andvisitors. Santa Fe, Taos and Las Vegas arethree landmark destinations in thetriangle that distinctly showcaseIndian, Spanish and Old West influ-ences. These towns are anchored bynational historic treasures includingthe San Miguel Mission in Santa Fe, thePecos National Historic Park,Montezuma Castle, Fort Union Na-tional Monument in Mora and SanFrancisco de Asis Mission Church inRanchos de Taos. Visitors will appreciate how thevillages and towns in the GoldenTriangle have evolved...determined topreserve their natural environmentand history, yet building communitiesthat reflect their unique sense of place. The Village of Pecos is a good example.

While the Pecos National HistoricPark is a prime attraction, Pecos hasbecome a nature and recreationlovers mecca with fly fishing lodges, cabins, guided wilderness trecks andother popular outdoor activities. Then there is the city of Las Vegaswhich is New Mexico’s largestoutdoor architectural museum with900 buildings listed on the NationalRegister of Historic Places. It is nowa small college town and growingartist community that is the com-mercial center for the region. The stretch of farming andranching country side leading to theMora Valley and Fort Union Na-tional Monument are reminders ofthis areas history as the “breadbasket” of Northern New Mexicoand the importance of trade on theSanta Fe Trail. Today, visitors willexperience an energized Mora that iscultivating its agrarian, recreational, artistic and cultural opportunitieswith renewed vigor. There is so much to discover inour own backyard! So pack yourbags and experience a GoldenTriangle adventure into the heart ofNorthern New Mexico.

Bienvenidos!
