7) Vivian Martin - “I decree and declare that 2013 Will beThe Greatest Year Ever. The things that distracted you, hindered you and tried to keep you from progressing hasbe bound in the spirit. God is doing a “New Thing” in thelives of His people...Eyes have not seen, neither haveears heard, the good things God is about to do in yourlife. No holds barred, for me, I shall come forth as “PureGold”, in Jesus name. ITS OUR TIME!!!”

8) Carla D Lewis - Church works and religious acts do notreplace spending personal time with God. Have you everfound yourself so busy working for God that you neglect tospend time with God? It can be easy to be deceived intothinking that doing religious works is just as good as spend-ing personal time with God. However, you will not grow spiri-tually if you don’t spend time with God. Good works will notget you into Heaven; you must have a personal relationshipwith Jesus. In Matthew 7:22-23, Jesus said, concerningJudgement Day, “Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord,Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your namedrive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tellthem plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildo-ers!’” Those people thought that because they did goodthings in the name of Jesus they could get into Heaven. In-stead, Jesus surprised them by saying, “I never knew you.”

Therefore, don’t get so caught up in your goodworks that you forget to know God. Make it your goal to seekfirst his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these thingswill be given to you as well (Matthew 6:33). If all of your goodworks have made you so busy that you don’t spend any timewith God, then those good works have become bad works, because they are replacing your time with God.

6) Roslyn Bazzelle - “Showing gratitude for thepeople in our lives is not only great for ourselves, but it also honors those people.”

9) D. Ivan Young - “By choosing to de-velop a profound understanding of ahandful of these laws, you will unlock un-tapped, hidden powers that will bring im-mediate transformation to your life. To dothis requires a deeper understanding ofthe cause-and-effect manner in whichUniversal Laws work. Once understood, these laws work consistently, effortlessly, and flawlessly in all environments. Thatincludes where you work, live and play. Now before you jump the gun, there are afew rules you must remember. Theserules work in the divine and spiritual arenafirst. What that means is that you mustfirst measure your results by moments, not minutes. Next, these things won’t takeplace in a few seconds, they happen inthe appropriate season. Lastly, faith mustbe connected to works that are satu-rated in divine purpose in order for Uni-versal Laws to work on your behalf.A sign that you’re out of harmony

with these laws is when frustration anddiscord is present. This leads me to mynext point. Universal Laws neverwork for fools. It is pre-ordainedthat you do the right things, atthe right time, for the rightreasons, for these laws towork for you; or negativeKarma will be inescapable. In other words, if your mo-tives are self-centered,based upon greed, or donein a spirit of lust or anger, you are playing with spiri-tual fire, and proceedingin such a manner will getyour butt incinerated. The laws do allow,

however, for you to fixbroken areas of your life. They even allow you tobe selfish as long as self-ishness involves improv-ing the content of yourcharacter and the qualityof your life. As I said be-fore, these laws are here to

help, not hinder you. To this end you canquickly see that if you use them to build, you’re quickly rewarded.” from ANOTHERCHANCE...Where Would You Be WithoutOne! by Dr. D Ivan Young. There AREguarantees in life. The trick is knowingwhat to put your confidence in, and whenand how to make those covenants workfor you. Isn’t it about time you tapped intothe source. There’s no better momentthan right now. Connect with what Goddeposited in you.”

10) Yolanda Denise Fontenot - “Makethe best of your life, don’t look at

somebody else’s facebookstatus and down yourown. We all have a different destinationand a different destiny.”

About Our ThemeThere is but One Race, and that is The Human Race. This message was articulated very clearlyby Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a Visionary who saw things from a different perspective. AlmostForty Years later, we now see those things, and we will strive to incorporate those things into oureveryday lives in the knowledge of “Change Begins With Self”

America is a unique experience. While it is home for all who desire peace and prosperity, it isan awakening for others to the possibilities of positive change.Americans are a collective inheritance of cultural, ethnic and spiritual differences whose sum

total epitomizes all that is good in the human experience. The key to America’s strength is her shared differences. Her shared differences are what we applaud

How To HireA LawyerBy Aaron G. Adams, Esq.ADAMS & ASSOCIATES, LLC

Unless you are a busi-ness owner or own a signifi-cant amount of assets, youprobably will only ever needan attorney in the case of anemergency. In an emergencysituation, you as the client arein a highly vulnerable positionand therefore are susceptibleto being taken. I have solved

many clients’ problems, onlyafter they have spent largesums of money with anotherattorney who did not. When Iask them why they hired theirfirst attorney they say: “Well, Ithought he was a good attor-

ney because his office is in[insert your favorite ritzy partof town].” or “I thought he wasa good lawyer because he got[insert famous person] off.”This article is primarily gearedtoward those hiring an attor-ney in an emergency situationand will serve to shed somelight on how to make a sounddecision when seeking coun-sel under trying conditions.

How do I find an attorney?

It is best to find an attor-ney through a personal refer-ral. If no referral is available, you can use the Internet, local newspapers, or phone

books to compile a list. Aftercreating a list of prospectiveattorneys, you should youread their profiles at theTexas Bar website located atwww.texasbar.com. On theTexas Bar website you will beable to find the bare minimumabout your prospects. Thewebsite will tell you whetheror not the attorney is in goodstanding, how long he or shehas been in practice, and

whether or not he or she hasever been disciplined. Youwill want to be weary of anyattorney that has been disci-plined by the bar. What should I say when I callmy prospective attorney?

When calling an attorney forthe first time you should beready to present your issue inan easy to understand man-ner. Never start with: Do youhandle [insert type of law ortype problem]? This lets theattorney know that you havenot done your homeworkabout him or her. Another no-no is to expect a precise feequote for your case becauseeach case is different.

What do I need to bring withme to my consultation?

To get the most out of yourconsultation, you will want to

bring any and all documentation related toyour case. Therefore, the attorney can giveyou an honest assessment of your situation anda more accurate fee assessment.

What is a retainer?

The word “retainer” is defined in Black’sLaw Dictionary (7th Edition) as “a fee paidto a lawyer to secure legal representation.”The two most common types of retainersare described as follows: The first type isthe type that most clients are familiar with; itis akin to an advance. Here’s how it works. The client pays the attorney an upfront fee, which is placed in the attorney’s trust ac-count. As the attorney works, he or shededucts from the retainer, by “paying” to his

or herself earnings.Once the retainer isdrawn down to a certainpoint the attorney re-quests that the client re-plenish the retainer. Inthis arrangement the at-torney asks for a signifi-cant upfront fee in orderto hold in trust becausehe or she is bearing thecredit risk of the client. That is, the retainerserves as a credit re-serve. The second type

of retainer is an amount that is paid on amonthly basis, regardless of whether or notany legal work is performed. This type of re-tainer functions more like an insurance pol-icy, except that you have actually paid forsomething tangible, a small block of timeevery month. Attorneys have numerousclients and cannot work on multiple prob-lems at once. With this type of retainer theattorney has already worked into his sched-ule a time to service your needs. This typeof retainer is most commonly used by highnet worth individuals, businesses and enter-tainers that have ongoing legal needs thatarise randomly. However this type of re-tainer is becoming more widespread in themarketplace for all types of clientele.
