But the Tucson community faced the cold, joining Primavera at our annual Homeless Memorial, in order to remark and reflect on the lives of women and men who died without a home. Every year, too many members of our community die while experiencing homelessness. They die of cold, of ill-health, or they are murdered in unprovoked hate crimes. Held on or near the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, homeless memorials are a nation-wide effort to bring light to these very serious health risks and injustice of being homeless. People gathered at the Evergreen Cemetery’s potter field to share memories of those who passed, speak about social injustice, share blessings, and reaffirm our commitment to continue fighting to end homelessness. Thank you, to all of our speakers, Joseph Scott, Jon McLane, Rubén Reyes, Brother David Buer, Kay Wolferstetter, Faye Goggins, Maricela Solis, Debra Jacobson, Si Gung James Lofquist, Robin Reineke, Pete Gomez, Supervisor Richard Elías, Basheer Shahin, and Reverend Ron Phares, with music provided by Federico Colmenero, Randy Gillespie, and Taps by Michael Ruiz. “This is one of the saddest places in Tucson, but for me, it is also one of the most important spaces. It forces us to remember some of the more important ways we can improve, and it reminds us we are a community. And today, as a community, we encircle these people. We embrace them, and we reach out to them with love, with respect, and with recognition.” ROBIN REINEKE Co-Founder and Executive Director Colibri Center for Human Rights

2013 HOMELESS MEMORIAL Friday, December 20, 2013 was a frigid day—a sharp reminder of how brutal the winter can be, even in Tucson.

We embrace them, and we reach out to them with love, with respect, and with recognition.”

Monetary donations received August 1, 2013 - December 31, 2013

THANK YOU TO ALL 1,800 DONORS

For the second year in a row, Santa’s Village was a day of games, crafts, food, gift wrapping, and good cheer. Over 50 families joined Primavera for the Saturday “shopping” event. Because of your generous gift donations, rooms overflowed with gift options for all ages. Family members chose gifts, had them wrapped, and took them home for family celebrations on Christmas. Thank you for making this day possible.
