On behalf of the State Bar of Texas

Office of Minority Affairs and the

2012 Steering Committee, we

invite you to the 20th Anniversary

of the Texas Minority Counsel

Program! Come find out why

the TMCP is the premier client

development, networking, and CLE

event for attorneys in Texas.

The TMCP’s unique format not only

provides valuable CLE credit but

also gives attendees an opportunity

to participate in informational

interviews to discuss outside counsel

opportunities. The golf tournament,

spa retreat, receptions and dine-

arounds, which allow small groups

of participants to dine together at

nearby restaurants, maximize the

opportunity for attorneys to connect.

This year’s conference takes

place October 3-5, 2012, in

Houston, Texas. We are confident

attendance will benefit you and your

organization, and we look forward

to seeing you at the conference!

Outside Counsel Interested in Being Interviewed

Law firm attendees will have a chance to participate in informational interviews with corporate and government representatives to discuss outside counsel opportunities.

expectationsThe TMCP is an opportunity to network and form new business relationships. The conference is not a job fair, nor is there any guarantee that you will receive work as a result of the interview process. We hope to provide you with an opportunity to meet with in-house lawyers and tell them about your practice area. This introduction is the first step to getting your name known by the organization so that you can be considered for future work opportunities.

signing Up and submitting Your résuméFirst, register for the conference. After your registration is received, you will be e-mailed a link to upload: (1) a personal résumé, and (2) a firm résumé, including a narrative description of your firm’s practice, area(s) of expertise, and all office locations. If your personal résumé already includes this information, you may omit the firm résumé. To be considered for pre-selection your résumé(s) must be received by the early registration deadline of August 24, 2012.

NotificationA list of interviewing companies can be found online at www.TexasBar.com/TMCP. You will be notified via e-mail at least one week prior to the conference whether you have been pre-selected for an informational interview. If you are pre-selected, your e-mail will include the interview date and time, the interviewing company and, if available, the name of the interviewer.

on-site sign-UpLimited on-site interview sign-up will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis for pre-scheduled time slots that are still available. At the conference, your registration packet will include instructions. All interviews are 15-minute consecutive sessions, unless otherwise noted. Some corporations may request to speak with you and a colleague simultaneously, as a firm. In that case, a joint session will be conducted.

In-House Counsel Interested in Conducting Interviews

Corporate and government representatives will have the opportunity to meet a diverse pool of outside counsel by conducting informational interviews at the conference. We make it easy by: (1) compiling credentials in an online database to review; and (2) providing an area at the conference to have one-on-one meetings with whomever you select.

signing UpTo register to conduct interviews on behalf of your company, complete the registration form in the TMCP Sponsorship brochure found online at www.TexasBar.com/TMCP.

Pre-selectionPre-selection gives your organization an opportunity to select attorneys prior to the conference to ensure that you meet outside counsel with the skill sets that are needed by your organization – either now or in the future. The representatives from your company who will be conducting interviews will receive instructions via e-mail on how to access résumés. Limited on-site interview sign-up will be available for attendees on a first-come, first-serve basis if you leave time slots available for them to do so.
