Why You Need to Know & Avoid Them

99% of business owners, marketers, webmasters and even co-called “SEO experts” make just

HUGE mistakes in their SEO campaigns, failing to achieve their goals and losing thousands of

dollars monthly. Or even losing their entire businesses because some of these mistakes may

cause entire ban of your website by search engines, so it will be totally excluded from search

results and there is no guarantee you will ever be able to get it back!

Performing SEO in a wrong way and violating search engine webmaster guidelines may cost you

just TOO MUCH.

We are NOT going to tell you about the most common, well-known SEO mistakes, such as over-

optimizing your website with keywords, description and meta-tag mistakes, or other boring, well-

known SEO mistakes, which are in fact not so important.

What we have prepared for you in our report below is what you REALLY MUST

KNOW and MUST AVOID in your SEO campaigns in order NOT to be banned by

search engines and NOT to waste thousands of dollars and years of frustration in unsuccessful

attempts of getting high rankings on search engines.

#1. Paying Attention to the Homepage

PageRank Instead of Checking Backlink

Page PageRank

Most people just don’t know that only backlink page PageRank, where your link is placed is important. Homepage PageRank of that website, where your link is placed is NOT important at all. Google PageRank does NOT rank websites as a whole, but is determined for each page individually. It means that homepage PageRank can be PR10, but some inner page of such website can be PR0 or even N/A (which means this page wasn’t even indexed by Google yet). A backlink from such PR0 page, which belongs to PR10 website, has absolutely NO value and no influence on your site rankings on Google. So don’t waste your time and money for such useless backlinks. Learn more about Google PageRank Formula and why

PR0 links are useless. So when you consider ordering a link building service or purchasing links on a monthly basis, pay attention to the PageRank of the exact backlink page, where your link is going to be placed, but not to the homepage PageRank. When someone offers you to use their “high PR link building service”, always ask them whether they are talking about homepage PageRank or backlink page PageRank, and on which exactly pages (with what PR) your links are going to be placed. Most SEO and link building service providers build links, coming from PR0 backlink pages, but on websites with high homepage PageRank. Such links are useless.

Solution: pay attention to the PageRank of the exact backlink page, where your link

is going to be placed, but not to the homepage PageRank and always get links only from

PR1- PR10 webpages.

#2. Purchasing / Building Links Coming from

Only High PR

or from Only Low PR Pages

Sometimes, the people who run the link popularity campaign for their sites promotion on Google, fall into a mistake of collecting only those backlinks which come from only high PR webpages. They stick to the logic that the higher PR have their backlink pages the better is the result they'll get in the end and the more quickly this result will come. And vice versa, without any concern about how important is the backlink page PR for their own sites promotion on Google, other people stuff up their backlink profiles with an enormous amount of links coming from low PR pages. What must be said is that none of these two approaches is right. Moreover, once applied, any of them can trigger one's site drop in the SERPs sooner or later. And since the reason of this drop is not that evident, the site owner will never understand why the time & the money he has invested in the link building go to waste. This SEO mistake costs thousands of USD every year to numerous business owners. So, you should understand the Google vision of the link nature in order to avoid it. The secret is that Google sticks to the statement that natural process of the links acquirement cannot result in a huge amount of homogeneously high or low PR links. It originally means that, according to Google, if your links come from both high PR and low PR pages, your site authority is acknowledged by larger number of Internet users. Otherwise, your links are treated to be acquired unnaturally. To learn more about the right high PR to low PR links ratio, please come at http://www.linksmanagement.com/view/how_to_make_your_link_popularity_campaign_look_natural_for_google

Solution: try to get the links form both high & low PR pages, and do never limit your

link popularity campaign with only one of these types of links.

#3. Expecting Fast Results, Since You May

Need to Wait 3 to 6 Months

When running the link popularity campaign for one's site, the owner of this site may fall into the mistake of taking the link building for a kind of an instant cure which can solve his problems with the site rankings on Google. At the average, the newbie in the link building field expects his site to be on the Google top 10 within a month or two after the start of his link popularity campaign. But even 2 months is not enough to get the whole amount of PR Weight passed through the backlink. That's why, when the site remains invisible on the SERPs after 2 months of use of links, the site owner decides to remove all the links he has acquired before. The matter is that the links removal after that short period of time is one of the most horrible mistakes one can ever make in the link building. That short lifespan of the link shows to Google that the link has been acquired in an unnatural way. In its turn, this can cause the Google sanctions against the site on which the canceled links were pointing on. Moreover, we can say that such an abrupt disappearance of backlinks can lead to a complete loss of Google trust. This incredibly costly SEO mistake is typical for newbies who make their first steps in link building. The people who are experienced enough, know very well that the link building is not the spend of money but rather an investment in the site rankings improvement. And like every investment it works slowly. The backlink has a certain "carrying capacity" which limits the link possibility to pass the whole amount of the PR Weight from the backlink page. It comes gradually, and only after 3 to 6 months your link can get enough weight to influence your site position on Google. To learn more about this phenomenon, please come at http://www.linksmanagement.com/view/old_links_priority

Solution: do not expect an immediate improvement. If it occurs, that's nice. But, as a

rule, you should plan your campaign taking into account that the first results will be observed only after 3-6 months. That's why, if you want to get visible on Google SERPs on August, you should begin to build / buy links on March or April.

#4. Wrong Expectations: Expecting Traffic

Increase Instead of Rankings Improvement

Most business owners, marketers, webmasters and SEO specialists, who order SEO & link

building services (or do it themselves), expect to see traffic increase instead of watching their

site rankings improvement on Google (for those keywords, for which they have started their link

building campaign). This is a BIG mistake because in most cases they will NOT see ANY traffic

increase at all and will stop their campaign and cancel links. This will cause them significant

money loss because they don’t just cancel existing links; they also lose their

website rankings, Google PageRank and Google Trust Rank. However, in fact their link

building campaign could have been very effective and successful! You’ll learn why below.

They won’t see any traffic increase

because they’ve just built/purchased

not enough links to get into the Top 3

of Google SERPs for this keyword yet.

And the thing is if you achieved

19th place on Google (which is a good result

already), you will NOT see ANY traffic

increase at all because 99% of all

Google traffic is distributed between

the Top 10 positions. Moreover, Top 3

get 62.53% of all Google traffic. The 1st

place gets 42.13% of all traffic. And

number 9, for example, gets only

2.85%! Can you imagine this? That’s 1,478% less than #1! Click here to learn more about

W hat It Is W orth for You to Be #1 on Google (and see

Google Traffic Distribution Stats).

So, if your website rankings improved from 987th to 19th position, and you don’t see any traffic

increase (and you shouldn’t see it yet), it means that your link building campaign was extremely

successful! Build (or buy) more such backlinks and soon you’ll be in the Top 10!

Solution: always watch your site rankings improvement and do NOT expect to see

traffic increase before you get in Top 3, or at least in Top 10.

Note: remember that you should expect to see traffic increase only if your selected keyword is

quite popular. Click here to find out How to Choose the Right Keywords.

#5. Checking Top 10 Instead of Top 1000

Those who know they need to expect and watch rankings improvement instead of traffic increase,

often check only Top 10 rankings on Google instead of checking all 1000. It is important for you to

check all 1000 positions of Google search results simply because if your site ranking improves

from position #567 to #47, you won’t find out about that if you’re checking only the Top 10. As a

result, you will decide that purchased links do NOT work and cancel those links! This will result

in significant money loss because you won’t just lose that money, which you spent for these

exact links, but you will also lose your website rankings, Google PageRank and Google

Trust Rank. However, in fact getting from position

#567 to #47 is a great result and you should NOT have canceled those links!

Of course you cannot check Top 1000 rankings on Google manually, so make sure to use some

tool, which will do that for you. Sign up free at LinksManagement and you’ll be getting such

regular ranking improvement reports totally FREE. Each report includes detailed rankings

improvement of your website on Google for each of your keywords.

#6. Building / Buying Links for Too Many

Keywords At Once

Many people often want to achieve everything and at once. They build or buy links for many keywords at once, deconcentrating their efforts and budget. This may result in insignificant rankings improvement for each keyword, say getting in Top 200 for all those keywords, but this will not bring you any results in traffic increase since only the first 10 positions on Google actually get any traffic at all (and #1 gets 42% of it - learn more about Google Traffic Distrubution Stats). And since most people do NOT track their site rankings improvement throughout Top 200 search results, they usually get upset and become disappointed, saying "Oh, I spent several thousands of dollars, but didn't get any traffic increase at all!" and stop their link building campaign. This is very costly SEO mistake because they do not only lose these investments, they also lose all their achieved rankings, plus reputation on Google! They lose their Google Trust Rank because Google sees that some links appeared and then disappeared! So Google may consider that those links were purchased and not only lower your site rankings to where it was before, but also additionally penalize it! In addition to all this, you may decide to give up trying to get #1 on Google and never achieve your desired goal of significant and regular traffic and sales increase thanks to better and better rankings for more and more keywords on Google.

Solution: focus your efforts on one or several keywords (depending on your budget)

before you achieve #1 on Google. And only then invest in other keywords. If you need more information about how to select the best keywords for your link popularity campaign, come at http://www.linksmanagement.com/view/how_to_choose_keywords

#7. Building / Buying Links for Only One

Commercial Keyword

Due to the latest Google updates, the strategy of building links for only one keyword is not as efficient as. We understand that this statement may seem controversial to the one given just in previous tip. However, these two tips in fact should be considered as mutually complementary. As you know, on April 24, 2012 Google launched its Penguin update which implied some considerable changes in the Google search algorithm. Those changes have consequently impacted the link building field by emphasizing the priority of natural link acquisition. And one of the aspects of this “naturality” is the diversification of backlinks anchor text. Since now, if all your backlinks are built for the same keyword – it mostly concerns so-called “commercial” keywords – it doesn’t seem natural to Google anymore. Thus, one more criterion is added to the factors which determinate natural links. Here we should agree with Google that thousands of links built for the same webpage and containing the same anchor text can’t seem natural. And that’s exactly the reason why so many sites with natural backlinks were hit by Penguin update.

Solution: the links you acquire should not contain the same anchor text. In

other words, it means that your link building campaign has to aim at your site promotion on Google for some different keywords at the same time, especially if your aim is to rank higher for the most popular keywords represented in Google AdWords).

#8. Using Too Competitive Keywords

After having realized that the link building can lead one's site to the Google top 10, some people start to mistakenly believe that by having some huge number of links they will succeed to rank in the top 10 for literally any keyword. And in most cases it's true. But the main exception from this rule is extremely competitive keywords. Some of site owners even try to get ranked for such keywords as Google or Facebook without the right understanding of how to choose keywords. The optimism is a very good trait. But the link building wisdom says that some mountains are created to be never conquered. In fact, the matter of the mistake is that sometimes we forget that our wise and elaborate keyword selection is as important as the picking up of high quality links. The first thing we think about is the keyword which is an absolute leader in the searches. But this way of thinking and acting will bring nothing for us. The wrong choice of the keyword menaces your campaign return on investment (ROI). It is that very kind of mistake you can hardly detect when the link building process is already launched. Everything seems to be all right just till the moment when your site stops dead in the middle of, say, top 100 list. Well, one can find it honorable to get that high, e.g. page 5 on SERPs for the keyword real estate New York. But to be honest, page 5 will not help you to become visible for your clients. In this view, you should always remember that the less competitive is your keyword the higher you can be on the SERPs by adding new links in your backlink profile. It doesn't mean that we want you to go to extremes. You can always use some tools or tips that can be useful for you in order to find the Golden Mean. In our turn, we would suggest your having a glance at http://www.linksmanagement.com/view/how_to_choose_keywords where, we believe, you'll see some interesting and more detailed information about how to find the best keywords for your link popularity campaign.

Solution: remember that the more specific is your keyword, the

more targeted is your audience and the more clients you really get from the search engines. Thus, the more profitable is your link building activity in terms of ROI.

#9. Purchasing literally thousands of "garbage" links for $5 to $100

During last two years more and more people get sure that "garbage" links don't work. Especially it became a common knowledge after the case of JCPenney. But what do we mean by "garbage" links? And how to distinguish between high quality links low quality links? One of the link quality metrics is well know, it's the backlink page PageRank. But we cannot trust this only metric, since high PR cannot always guarantee that your link is placed on a good webpage nor that it will be placed in a way that the "link juice" will come to your site and influence its rankings.

The only PR cannot be the sign of a good link. E.g. it concerns the cases when the link is placed in the comment of the forum threat which front page has high PR. One more example is the link placement at the "link farm".

The main danger is the fact that you stuff up your backlink profile with almost useless links. It doesn't consist even in the fact that you waste your money for nothing. The most considerable and horrible damage is the loss of your rankings and falling down in Google oblivion. In this view, the example of JCPenney is very prominent.

Solution:

That's why the best way not to get trapped by spammy link building is to remember the following important facts:

1. You should understand that the good link cannot get you to the top quickly. Even PR8 contextual link with your anchor text will impact your rankings only after 1 month at the very least.

2. You cannot get 15 PR4-PR8 links "for only $99.99". It's nonsense. Think yourself over the proposal to place the link on your PR4 webpage for $7. Would you do it?

3. Good link cannot be "permanent". Now think yourself over the proposal to place the link on your PR4 webpage for $7 forever. Would you do it?

4. Try to avoid "link farms" and forum links. Remember, that the best way for you to do it is to see

the backlink page where the link is supposed to be placed before the deal.

#10. Ignoring the Passed PR Weight Importance

After having learned about the importance of the backlink page PageRank, people often fall into the mistake of ignoring some other metrics which are extremely important as well. The most crucial metric which determines so-called "link juice" is the Passed PR Weight. Passed PR Weight - is Google PageRank weight, passed from the backlink page to your web page. This weight is calculated based on the Google PageRank Formula. The Passed PR Weight depends on the backlink page PR and on the amount of outbound links on the webpage where your link is placed. It means that the higher is the PR of the backlink page, the higher your site rankings are on Google. But on the other hand we observe the correlation of your results on Google with the amount of outbound links on the backlink page. The more it is, the less Passed PR Weight you get. One of the most frequent mistakes is trying to get link on the pages with only high PR without paying any attention to the number of outbound links. This approach leads you to the trap of "link farms" - high PR pages with an enormous quantity of outbound links. Thus, you face two dangers here. First, you just waste your time and money by buying / building links on such pages, because they are worthless taking into account miserable Passed PR Weight you get from your links. Second, you take risks to be vanished from the Google SERPs, since Google experts are very good in detecting link farms and they may punish the owners of the sites linked to the farm.

Solution: pay attention to the amount of outbound links on the backlink page. Learn

more about the Passed PR Weight and its importance for your link popularity campaign. You should remember that it's not just one more metric among dozens of them, but the crucial one which determines the success of your link building process. If you need more information about Passed PR Weight and its role in your link building campaign, please be advised to come at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank. Or, at http://www.linksmanagement.com/view/google_pr_formula?reportseomistakes you can find more simplified explanation.

#11. Being Afraid to Start Your Link Building Campaign

99% of people are just afraid to start making money. While dealing with SEO, the site owner who wants to get higher on Google for his main keywords is attacked by numerous threats: Google penalty, Google Sandbox, Google Panda Update which "can" detect link acquired in an unnatural way. In 99% of cases a man allows himself to be led by these fears into the Google oblivion. Only one percent of people succeed to reach that desired Google top 10. Their profits cover the expenses devoted to SEO. And the most interesting thing is that they are on the top only because other 99% of people let them do it. The facts have shown us that every $200 invested high quality links can give from 5 to 47 positions up. We always agree with those who claim that. It's a fact which doesn't mean that if your content is poor, your potential clients won't be interested in what you offer. But on the other hand, even the most precious won't be useful if it's not visible. Every business needs to be present in the Web. And consequently, every business site needs SEO to rank as high as possible. That's why, if you still hope that you don't need links from webpages with high PR, you are falling into one of the most dangerous and costly SEO mistakes. It's the same to thinking that good product can be successfully sold without any advertisement. The place in Google top 10 is your best advertisement. And if you're not even close this, your previous efforts can easily go to waste. To learn more about the importance of link building and of its influence on your, please come at http://www.linksmanagement.com/view/google_pr_formula

Solution: Don't be afraid to start. The way to the top begins from your very first step.

The success is your only option. Otherwise, what is it all for?
