WEEK 5 July 11 - July 15

Munchkin Mediation: Conflict Resolution in Oz (Grades 1—6)

It’s one year later and all the famous characters have returned to Oz. They’ve

been having trouble readjusting, and their quarrels have led to the throwing of

more than one yellow brick. Perhaps it’s no surprise that the Good Witch and

Wicked Witch (yes, she’s back in solid form!) still don’t get along. But the Tin

Man and Lion can’t agree on anything either, and even Dorothy and Toto are

barking at each other. They’ve come back to the Munchkins, experts on conflict

resolution, to learn how to solve their problems. With the usual memorable

tunes and silly humor, Munchkin Madness introduces and reinforces strategies

for controlling anger, using “I-statements,” active listening, sharing perspectives,

and finding win-win solutions to conflict. Show: Friday, July 15 at 11:30 a.m.

Production Crew (Grades 7-12)

Be a part of the magic while learning stagecraft, costuming, basic technical thea-

ter , choreography and directing. In this studio you’ll learn hands on as you work

with the actors in Drama I and Drama II. You will also have a chance to partici-

pate in the performances at the end of the week.

WEEK 6 July 18 - July 22

Geology Rocks! (Grades 1—6)

Professor Rock has disappeared and everywhere Jen and Rosie turn they see a

geologic mystery. Join Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson uncover the mystery of

the missing Professor Rock. This geology show has singing crystals, dancing rocks,

and earthquakes that can really shake! "Geology Rocks!" is designed to teach the

study of the composition and changing nature of the earth. "What is it, Holmes?

Metamorphic? Igneous?" "Sedimentary, my dear Watson!" Show: Friday, July 22

at 11:30 a.m.

study the fundamentals of improvisation through exercises that help to develop

strong ensemble and character work. Develop stage presence as well as pa-

tience, self confidence, good communication skills, and a respect for other per-

formers and their creativity. This studio is designed to concentrate on the as-

pects of who, what and where while developing strong teamwork skills. At the

end of the week the ensemble will present what they have learned at a “Night at

the MMS Improv,” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 30th. Dessert and Coffee will

If you love to act and ham it up this studio is for you! You will immerse yourself

in theater games, improv and prepare for one-act melodrama in five pun-filled

scenes by Paul Leslie .

This show is strictly silly stuff for actors who really like to ham it up. Everybody

participates. The audience is expected to hiss, groan, cheer and boo. The com-

pletely predictable plot is about how Sudsly Doorite saves Prell Pureheart from a

horrible demise at the hands of Dirty Dan Dinglethorpe. Perfect for the actor

that has not had the opportunity to act all year.
