A year ago, we set a new vision to be an exceptional community hospital – to set standards and exceed your expectations.

As Tri-Board Chairs and CEO, it is comforting to know we have a local hospital with highly-skilled, compassionate people who do their best, every day, every week, and every year, to give care to those who need it most.

We know we are living our vision at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance as we see and hear remarkable examples.

We will... lead CKHA to always strive to achieve the best from our hospital for our patients and our community.

We have...set a new vision at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance

Across CKHA, we think it is important to offer seamless, compassionate, patient and family centred care to our patients. Because of this philosophy, we have an overall patient satisfaction rate of 94%.

With nurses like Maureen, who believe in quality and excellence of care, our Ambulatory Care Department is an impressive display of teamwork and compassion.

I will…continue to deliver the very best compassionate care to my patients.

I have... been a bridge for patients

Employees want to make a difference to patients, within their teams and for our hospital. They want to give feedback, be heard and contribute – they want to make positive changes at CKHA. Quality improvement starts with employees like Sarah in Central Sterile Reprocessing, who signs off on her work everyday and is empowered in her role.

At CKHA, a culture of empowerment is transformational. It is an important element in delivering compassionate high-quality care.

I will… continue to help build a better CKHA.

I have... been accountable to patients & colleagues at CKHA

We want to be a centre of excellence for key community needs. Through our staff, physicians and volunteers, we have access to a vast knowledge base.

In today s changing healthcare environment, CKHA realizes the importance of tapping into this knowledge and information to create the strategies to be a centre of excellence.

With people like Gary of the Safe Meds Team, who with other front line staff are improving medication safety for patients at CKHA each month, we continue to innovate and develop solutions for our community.

I will… find more ways to make the patient experience safer at CKHA.

Our goal is to ensure each patient has an exceptional hospital experience and we are committed to generating results worthy of an exceptional community hospital. We regularly perform better than provincial targets in some areas and we set the standard in others.

Our Green Team is one of many initiatives that achieves measurable results and improves our facilities while also reducing costs.

We have... won national, provincial & community awards for environmental

stewardship.

are moving forward and our fundraising goals are within reach, thanks to the support of the residents of Chatham-Kent. Our efforts to raise funds for CKHA’s Highest Priority Needs has allowed us to provide CKHA with new equipment and technology to help enhance the quality and compassionate care that the residents of Chatham-Kent have come to expect of their local hospitals. And, through our new initiatives and events, the Foundation of CKHA has been able to reach out to our community like never before.

All of these exciting achievements are directly attributed to you – the more than 2,965 individuals, 277 organizations and 100 volunteers who chose to support the Foundation of CKHA’s efforts this past fiscal year through generous contributions and a significant donation of time and talents.

Without you, our ongoing success would not be possible. As a Foundation of CKHA supporter, you are making a positive and lasting impact on our local healthcare system – and for that, we are very grateful.

On behalf of the Foundation of CKHA, thank you for your continued support of your community hospitals and local healthcare system through the Foundation of CKHA.

With sincere appreciation,

With two significant fundraising campaigns on the go and our continued efforts to raise funds for CKHA’s Highest Priority Needs, the Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s (CKHA) 2011/2012 fiscal year was a time of focus, renewal and success.

Cardiac Monitoring System CampaignSince November 2010, the Foundation of CKHA has been working hard to raise funds for the $1 million Cardiac Monitoring System Campaign. To date, more than $653,923 has been raised to support the recent purchase of a new cardiac monitoring system in CKHA’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Sydenham X-Ray Equipment CampaignLaunched in November 2011, the Sydenham X-Ray Equipment Campaign will support the purchase of new, fully digital, x-ray equipment for CKHA’s Sydenham Campus. With $279,640 raised to date for this important campaign, the Foundation of CKHA is asking for Chatham-Kent’s continued support to reach our $500,000 fundraising goal by the end of 2012.

CKHA’s Highest Priority NeedsThe Foundation of CKHA’s ongoing priority is to support CKHA’s Highest Priority Needs, including the purchase of much-needed capital equipment and the updating of facilities and services at both the Chatham and Sydenham Campuses. With deep budget cuts and an ever-changing and increased need for service, providing support for CKHA’s basic needs is an important priority and a commitment that needs to be met to ensure continued quality local healthcare. To make a donation to support

On Saturday, December 10, 2011, the Foundation of CKHA hosted its 1st Annual Charity Curling Classic – Sweep for Sydenham at the Sydenham Community Curling Club in Wallaceburg. Twelve teams of four participated in this event and helped raise $6,000, through pledges, a 50/50 Draw and a silent auction, to support the purchase of new x-ray equipment for CKHA’s Sydenham Campus.

A new signature event, the Foundation of CKHA’s 1st Annual Charity Curling Classic featured two games of curling, lunch, dinner and great prizes. All participants were asked to raise a minimum of $100 in pledges for this event in support of the purchase of the new x-ray equipment.

“We are thrilled with the response we received for this new event,” says Michele Grzebien, Executive Director, Foundation of CKHA. “Not only did we raise much-needed funds to support Diagnostic Imaging at CKHA’s Sydenham Campus, but we also had the opportunity to once again connect with our supporters in Wallaceburg. All in all, it was a great day and we are looking forward to hosting the 2nd Annual Charity Curling Classic on Saturday, February 9, 2013.”
