Hennepin is a Reconciling Congregation, welcoming the fullparticipation of all persons including the GLBT Community.

    9:30 AM

Todays scripture leads usinto the beginning of the

drama of Holy Week.We travel with Jesus and

the disciples into Jerusalemthe place of powers and

principalities. As you reflecton these scriptures this

    week, consider thefollowing questions:

What does it mean tohave power and exercise

power? Have you usedthe power you have?

How can Jesus courageto speak the truth of hislife help us to have thecourage to speak truthin our lives?

How can we step forthand, through our actions,

    speak truth to power?

    Prayer actions:

Choose to practice deeplistening with family, friends,

and co-workers this week.Pray that you may be a

good companion on theirlifes path. Pray for those

around the world whoare harmed by the misuseof power.

    ENTRY INTO CELEBRATION

Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkeyHosanna in the highest! The crowd waved their palms, laid down their coats and shouted:Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord!

Twenty centuries past, what city has not heard of your coming? The word has spread that you, Christ, come in peace.Hosanna in the highest!

Twenty centuries past, what city has not heard of your church? The faithful have carried on your message of acceptance and healing.

Hosanna in the highest!Twenty centuries past, what city has not rejected you?Your love for the poor and the oppressed has often turned us away.

Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord.Twenty centuries past, what city does Christ seek to enter? From leafy suburb to shanty town, from housing estate to single

apartment, from townhome to slum, Jesus still seeks us out, offering new life. Blessed is the One who comes in the nameof the Lord.

Lentis a time to cultivateour spiritual lives withintention. Each week wegather for worship andhear the Good Newsspoken. During Lent youare invited to take the

scripture of worship intoyour daily life, throughyour work, prayer, family, friends. Take the scripture(and questions providedon the front page) as youlive through the rest of theweek to explore how it fitsfor you. There will be asuggestion for bringingthis scripture into action.Try it out. See if it makesa difference for you. Finally, look ahead atthe scripture for theupcoming week:John 20: 1-18

When they approached Jerusalem andcame to Bethphage on the Mount ofOlives, Jesus gave two disciples a task. Hesaid to them, Go into the village overthere. As soon as you enter, you willfind a donkey tied up and a colt with it.Untie them and bring them to me. Ifanybody says anything to you, say that

the Lord needs it. He sent them offright away. Now this happened to fulfillwhat the prophet said, Say to DaughterZion, Look, your king is coming toyou, humble and riding on a donkey, and on a colt the donkeys offspring. Thedisciples went and did just as Jesus hadordered them. They brought the donkey

and the colt and laid their clothes onthem. Then he sat on them.

Now a large crowd spread theirclothes on the road. Others cut palmbranches off the trees and spread themon the road. The crowds in front of himand behind him shouted, Hosanna tothe Son of David! Blessings on the one

who comes in the name of the Lord!Hosanna in the highest! And whenJesus entered Jerusalem, the whole citywas stirred up. Who is this? theyasked. The crowds answered, Itsthe prophet Jesus from Nazareth inGalilee.

Sanctus is a musicaldepiction of the scenein Jerusalem. The crowdhears the sounds ofprocession from faraway, getting closer, and finally right uponthem. Everyone joinsin shouting hosanna;then the processionmoves on downthe street.
