Pilates or Yoga --Which is right or you? From pilatesinsight.com

Pilates and yoga are popular exercise optionstoday, sharing similar techniques to develop, tone and strengthen muscles o the entire bodyby using your bodys own resistance to buildpower during movement. Compared to yogapostures, Pilates poses are strikingly similar, yet there are some proound dierences.

Yoga is an ancient practice that was originallypracticed in Northern India over 5,000 yearsago. Pilates was inspired by the ancient yoga

asanas about 80-years ago by Joseph Pilates,a German athlete.

Pilates sculpts the body through specicgentle, whole-body conditioning and correctiveexercises. First practiced by dancers, it hasgained mass attention in recent years becauseo its aesthetic body sculpting eects. Yoga isa liestyle, rather then simply an exercise. Itsknown as the path to both physical and mentalwell-being, including everything rom physicalpostures and healthy diet to breathing,

    relaxation and meditation skills.

Pilates mainly concentrates on cultivating corestrength in the body, lengthening the spine, and is a valuable tool or increasing strength, denition and proper posture. Yoga aims towork the body equally and unite the bodywith mind and spirit. Yoga is oten consideredtherapeutic, when compared to Pilates, as ithelps people nd harmony and release stress.

Soga is a usion o yoga, core strengthening abalance training. Its a great class or avid surers
