PLANNING PROCESS
NEEDS ASSESSMENT
The campus staff elects members to the Campus Improvement Council. Representatives are selected from each grade level, special education, fine
arts, and physical education, other electives, and non-teaching professionals. Additionally three staff members are elected “at large.” These people
can come from any grade level or department and are elected by popular vote. Parent and business representatives complete the CIC membership. The primary responsibilities of the Campus Improvement Council members include:
• Providing leadership in identifying TAKS, fitness assessment, and campus performance goals
•
Providing leadership in the development and implementation of the campus improvement plan• Assisting in the development of the campus budget
• Providing recommendations in the implementation of the campus budget
• Provide input on campus staff development
• Assisting in identifying campus staff development needs
• Chairing a campus committee when the need arises
• Providing leadership in developing a master calendar for the school year
• Providing assistance in monitoring and updating campus policies and procedures
In establishing campus goals, objectives and strategies for the 2010-2011 campus improvement plan, the following needs assessments were
considered:
AEIS and AYP reports
End of year assessment results including failure rates, Algebra I End-of-course results, special education assessments, and fitness gramassessment
Parent survey results (conducted in spring 2010)
Information and feedback gathered in parent meetings including PTA board meetings, Parent Advisory Meetings, etc.
Information and feedback gathered in CIC Teacher Survey
Annual analysis of the plan and review of various assessment data are used to determine objectives that address campus goals. Specific strategiesand action steps are developed to address these objectives. This process ensures a commitment to excellence and a resolve to provide the best
instructional plan for every student.
