Our Promise – A Comprehensive Review

The admissions team at The University of Arizona realizes that personal excellencecan and should be evaluated by more than just academic achievement. Throughour Comprehensive Review process, we are expanding access to students who will bring unique life experiences and personal achievements to our campus community.

Admission and scholarship award decisions are driven by comprehensivereview. Every application may be reviewed by up to two different reviewers before a final decision is made. This process allows us to consider more than a student’s academic profile. Factors such as class rank, strength of curriculum, performance in curriculum, grade point average in required core academiccourses, and ACT and/or SAT test scores will be considered. Other factors may include leadership, service, work experience and extracurricular activities;personal characteristics, attributes, and talents; and the ability to benefit fromand contribute to a diverse and challenging learning environment. We are interested in learning much more about the student’s preparedness, motivation, and potential in the unique context of their experience. The inclusion of a shortanswer, personal narrative section to the UA application gives prospective studentsthe opportunity to include unique life experiences and personal achievements in their application file. Through this process, we are making more comprehensive and individualized admission and scholarship decisions.

In recognition of the high level of academic aptitude and course work competencydemonstrated by many Arizona students who seek admission to UA, we alsooffer Assured Admission. Students may earn admission to UA through theAssured Admission process if they are an Arizona resident, attend a regionallyaccredited high school, rank in the top 25 percent of their graduating class, andhave no course work deficiencies as prescribed by the Arizona Board of Regents(see table on page 6).

Arizona applicantswho do not meet theAssured Admission criteria and allapplicants not consideredArizonaresidents will be considered for admission through comprehensive review.

Students who take the GED must earn an average score of 500 for admission consideration.

Home-schooled students will be considered on thebasis of portfolio/course work and comprehensive reviewand SAT Reasoning Test or ACT scores.

Notes

Some programs or colleges may require additional application informationand/or admission requirements. If students apply to those programs and do not meet the additional qualifications, they will be offered admission in anotherprogram for which they qualify. For a complete program listing, please visitwww.arizona.edu/degrees/undergrad-degrees.php. Estimating the likelihood of admission is very difficult without considering the complete application file. Thus, it is crucial for applicants to carefully complete the process by providingtimely, comprehensive and accurate information.

You may also choose to download the application, print out the appropriate PDF version, complete and submit that form of application. The third method is to use this printedpaper application.

We use the statement tolearn more about you as an individual – yourunique talents, experiences, achievements, views, background, interests, goals, preparation and your motivation.
