The 2006 Annual Report
The Association of Fraternity Advisors Foundation
The Association of Fraternity Advisors Foundation is honored to recognize your generosity and spirit with our Annual Report. We want you to know just how much of a difference your support makes to the professionals and volunteers who shape the lives of fraternity and sorority members every day. It is our way of letting you share in all of the “thank you’s” we have received this past year - and one way for us to say thank you ourselves. Humbly yours,
Thomas B. Jelke, Ph.D. Chairman, Association of Fraternity Advisors Foundation

Mission of the AFA Foundation
To secure, invest and distribute the necessary resources
to support the educational objectives of the
Association of Fraternity Advisors.
Dear Friends and Colleagues, Not too long ago, I was sitting at the airport waiting to fly home from the 2006 Annual Meeting, when a graduate student strode up to me, shook my hand, and thanked me for allowing her to make it to New Orleans. She was a recipient of one of the many scholarships the Association of Fraternity Advisors Foundation is proud to provide, and the sincerity of her gratitude moved me. It helped me fully appreciate the human factor in giving to the Foundation. It also made me a little ashamed that I was the one accepting her act of thanks, when it should have been you on the receiving end. I wanted to share that graduate student’s ‘thank you’ – and hundreds of others we received this past year – with all of you. As donors to the Foundation, it is you that deserve all the credit and thanks. Because of you, the Foundation has exceeded $250,000 in assets for the first time, allowing us to provide more scholarships, grants, and professional development opportunities for our colleagues. Your generosity through contributions to the Silent Auction, the “30 for 30” campaign, the annual fund, the “Because You Believe” stickers, and to the general fund have allowed us to touch more people than ever before. New initiatives like the Amicus Sequentes Circle, our planned giving society, have also been well received and will allow us to ensure the Foundation’s strong and healthy future.

Planned
Gift
Society
In 2006, the Association of Fraternity Advisors celebrated thirty years of service to higher education and the fraternal movement. The reason the AFA was established remains vital today - hat is to enhance its members’ ability to create fraternity and sorority experiences that positively affect students, host institutions and communities. During this historic 30th anniversary year, the Foundation is announcing the establishment of a planned giving program and will be campaigning for charter members of its new planned giving recognition society. This dedicated group will be known as the Amicus Sequentes Circle, or “friends to those that follow” in the Association of Fraternity Advisors.
If you have included the Association of Fraternity Advisors Foundation in your will or estate plan and have not notified the Foundation, please do so, and you will be recognized as a member of the Amicus Sequentes Circle. Members of The Circle will be listed in future annual reports or, if you wish, you may request anonymity. This is an opportunity to make a statement about our personal values… the satisfaction of perpetuating an important cause for future generations… the increased financial ability we now have to arrange generous planned gifts during and beyond our lifetime. These are all reasons why we make charitable gifts in our estate plans. The Foundation’s Board members and staff welcome your inquiries and will assist you in becoming a Charter Member of the new Amicus Sequentes Circle!
What is the Amicus Sequentes Circle?
The Amicus Sequentes Circle honors those who leave a legacy
for the future of the Association of Fraternity Advisors
through specific gifts or bequests to the
Association of Fraternity Advisors Foundation.
