The Magnus Archives is a weekly supernatural horror podcast, comprised of case files being recorded onto audio format by the Magnus Institute, a London-based research institute on the supernatural. While the first season episodes are mostly semi-self-contained stories, the second season begins to introduce a running plotline, feeding off of plot points from the first season. Narrated by Jonathan Sims into a tape recorder, the podcast makes use of a sombre, creepy and foreboding soundtrack used to convey a variety of sensations used to inspire fear, mostly through classical instruments like the violin. Available for free on the Rusty Quill website, the first season is fourty episodes long, and while the second season is still ongoing, it is expected to be roughly the same length. The actors employed to portray the various characters deliver impeccable performances, Jonathan Sims in particular portraying a realistic depiction of someone in his position, bitter, snarky and irascible after encountering the horrific things his occupation forces him to investigate.

Afterbuzz TV is a weekly to monthly podcast, made specifically to provide coverage for the hottest TV shows of the season, presented by superfans for superfans. Featuring interviews with showrunners, cast members and other behind-the-scenes personnel, all fans are welcome to discuss their favourite shows in the live chat. Afterbuzz TV has become one of my favourite things to listen to, the in-depth and detailed discussions enthralling me, and the personal opinions and theories of the panellists genuinely intriguing me enough to actually care about their thought processes. Me empathizing with and considering the opinion of someone I haven’t personally interacted with is very rare for me, and it speaks of the quality of content that Afterbuzz TV produces.

Created to appeal to the British Broadcasting Company’s sizeable female audience, BBC Woman’s Hour is a show presented by female hosts to discuss problems, events and other such topics from a woman’s perspective. Woman’s Hour has been going since 1946, and boasts a truly astonishing amount of followers, maintaining a distinct popularity among the English population. Part of the appeal of Woman’s Hour is how it is specifically catered to a certain section of society, a section that is absolutely essential to societal progression, but is unfortunately overlooked oftentimes due to ignorance, cowardice or outright dismissal. Woman’s Hour provides relief from this tradition, managing to restore faith for those who have become bored or depressed because of the lack of female-orientated radio.
