Nutritionist

A legislation that all nutritionists must follow is the data protection act:

- keep all the patients’ medical history and food requirements confidential

Their roles and responsibilities follow this legislation as:

- Keep records safe and locked away- Give the individual advice on their diet

An example of this is within a medical centre the nutritionist will be the only one who has the files about the patient and will always be in private one on one session in a closed space to speak

about their health and wellbeing.

A legislation that a councillor must follow is the equality act because all patients from diverse ranges must be treated equally with the correct respect. This means anyone disabled, a different gender or race must be respected and must be provided with reliable and safe advice especially when their lifestyle is in jeopardy. A councillor must not bully or harass a patient especially if they are providing the professional with private confidential information as they will feel frightened and intimidated enabling them to not trust the professional and they won’t be able to show their feelings and emotions as they feel harmed or uncomfortable.  The councillor will follow this act by listening attentively to the patient and by giving them the correct respect that they deserve. They will stop abuse which may occur by showing any concerns to their families or other professionals and will help them get through their negative past. This means these patients will be safeguarded especially if seen as vulnerable and all discrimination that may have occurred between professional and patient will be stopped.

Speech therapist Example:speech therapist will follow the human rights act:

- Allowing any individual who can’t speak properly to feel safe in their surroundings.

- Make sure they are not neglected, abused or bullied for being any different

- Confidential -Treated fairly

- Uphold their rights - Giving the person their rights.

Example- Counsellor:Equality act:

- Treated equally- Listen to patient giving correct advice

- Help them through negative past regardless of their ability/ disability?

- Safeguard them
