After lots of discussions, the Year 6 children from Rockingham, Greasbrough and Roughwood there chose a neon dance party night. What an event! Everyone looked fabulous in black and neon clothing - including the staff - and everyone had a fabulous time. The children all danced the night away to a brilliant DJ and had a delicious tea. The children then performed an amazing rap for all the parents. We would like to thank all the children for their excellent behaviour on the night and a massive thank you to all the staff and adults who turned up to help the children have an excellent evening. Willow Tree OSCARS: Glitz and glamour were the order of the evening on Monday because we held our Willow Tree Oscars event at Carlton Park in Rotherham. The outfits worn by children and parents were lovely and everyone looked so smart. The videos created by the children were amazing and we were so proud that we had so many entries from all age groups across school. Our lucky winners this time were: Foundation 1 with their video about road safety; Foundation 2 with their lovely video about a story they had read; and amazingly the staff video from Christmas time. We would like to thank all the parents who came along with the children to support the wonderful evening.

28th June 2019 Y6 Prom: On Tuesday night, we had an amazing send off the for Year 6 children.

House Treat visit to Rufford Park: Last week, the lucky children from Hoober went on a visit to Rufford Park. This was a reward for all their hard work in collecting positive dojo points all year as part of their house team. The children went with all the other winning teams from the academy and had a lovely time. The children all went for a lovely walk around the lake, played games in the park and went to look around the ruins. All the children enjoyed sharing a picnic together and had a lovely time. Well done children and next year your team could be the winner of the reward!

Science Ambassadors Visit: Last week, some of our budding scientists and the science ambassadors had the marvellous opportunity of visiting Shireoaks Marina to learn all about canals and barges. The children received an amazing lesson in how boats are made even getting to see some of the tools used, whilst also getting the see the cramped spaces inside some of the barges which transported materials. Then they were able to walk along the canal and even manage to work the locks to make the water levels rise and fall. We would like to thank all the volunteers at the Marina for giving up their time so our children could have a fabulous experience.

Pirate Ron: Yesterday we had a fabulous visit from a very special visitor. The foundation children have been learning all about pirates and the sea so to experience this they had a visit from Pirate Ron! The children were so excited to see him and got to do lots of fun and interesting activities. The children had also come up with lots of amazing and thoughtful questions to ask about life as a pirate. Everyone had a great time and we were so pleased with how the children behaved!

KS1 Visit to Sheffield Last week all our children from KS1 got to go on a fabulous adventure to Sheffield and the Cathedral. During the morning the children experienced different modes of transport including the tram to get to Sheffield. They then got to spend time being shown around the Cathedral building and learning all the fascinating facts about it. During the trip they also got to experience different locations within the city centre including the peace gardens. Hopefully it will help them all to make comparisons to London which they have been studying. Well done to all the KS1 children as they represented school very well during the day and showed how interested they were in their learning whilst on the visit.

New Arrivals Exciting news! Rockingham has some lovely new arrivals for the proud parents in Foundation 1 - the ducklings! The children have been able to experience how the egg develops in the incubator and then eventually this week managed to see them hatching. The ducklings are now in the setting getting used to their new environment and are thriving with the care and attention from their new parents. There have been many visits from Mrs Greenwood, Mr Hanson and Mr Clarke this last week to see how the ducklings are getting on. We hope the children are enjoying having the ducklings in class and getting the chance to hold and stroke them. We have been really impressed with how well they have been looked after!

Sports Day

What a wonderful sports day, the sun was shining and the children were all raring to go in their house colours. From early years to year 6 the children competed in a variety of sporting challenges demonstrating resilience, stamina, respect and most of all teamwork. Parents from foundation 2 even joined in the fun with a parents race well done Mr Adams. The morning ended with our sports awards to celebrate our sporting achievements throughout the year and the fantastic sportsmen and women that have represented our school. Well done to Keppel for winning sports day for the second year running.
