„Good kids never grow up“
THE WILD SOCCER BUNCH: A close community of boys and girls who are crazy
about soccer.
They are the wildest team of the world and each one is a soccer superstar:
Kevin, the slalom-dribble-talent, Roger, the hero, Vanessa, the fearless or Tyler,
the one with the hardest shot.
Seven wild kids against the rest of the world. There’s always a lot at stake. But
it’s not always about soccer.
THE WILD SOCCER BUNCH by Joachim Masannek is one of the most successful
German children‘s book series of the last years.
Thirteen volumes.
New books upcoming.
Circa 4 Mio. copies sold only in Germany.
Translated into eleven languages, sold to 29 countries.
Five successful movies with circa 9 Mio. viewers.
International distribution in more than 30 countries.
Most successful German brand for boys.
Enthusiastic, loyal and wild fans.
Animation corresponds perfectly to the brand:
Crazy, cool and wild — larger-than-life…
Animation is the best way to show it:
A soccer ball does not roll over a green lawn. It dashes through the clouds and
tears a hole into them.
One shot of Tyler busts the bars and makes the posts glow. And Mickey the
Bulldozer is fat. Very fat. Huge.
Animation is the answer.
Animated TV Series: 1st season, 13 x 22 min available
2nd season, 13 X 22 min in production
Feature Film: in development
Target Group: 6 – 10 years, boys and girls
Visual Style TV Series: 2D Animation, with Anime/Manga elements
Gripping characters, fast camera movements, big emotions, cool music
It‘s all good as long as you‘re wild…
…that‘s what the Wild Soccer Bunch firmly believe in. Kevin, Tyler, Roger, Joey, Kyle, Vanessa,
and Rico are friends, best friends! But they‘re even more than that: they play together in the
“best team on earth”. They‘d give their right leg for each other and for soccer.
The series accompanies the seven on their way from a happy, anarchistic kickabout flock into
a self-organised, cool team, competing in the youth league. With jerseys; with a real
stadium, the Devil‘s Pot; and with player‘s licences, signed with blood. Sports are never just
a game but are always an emotional rollercoaster between good and bad experiences.
The Wild Bunch fight together for their acceptance as a soccer team whilst they need to
compete in external and internal challenges. Sometimes it’s the Unbeatables with their
boss Mickey the Bulldozer, sometimes an almighty father, or intense conflicts between each
other. But only if they all stick together and believe in their collective strength, something
can happen, what is possible for great soccer players and best friends only — mighty soccer
magic!
The single episodes are about everything, which is not always soccer. They’re about
friendship, trust, betrayal, envy, hope. The Wild Bunch create their own world. They have
their own language, their special style, cool bikes, and secret places. the Wild Bunch get
their own, “cool”, visually realised world in the series as well. This world is dark and leaves
enough room for thrill, magic and big emotions — just like in Japanese Manga, the style of
the new series complies with.
