Greeting from the NEW MARIKINA TABLE TENNIS CLUB INC., a pioneer table tennis organization in the Philippines that recognizes and encourages the use of “Liha” and “Hardbat” paddle since the early 60’s. A truly Filipino style of PINGPONG – the long playing way which is not only beneficial physically but also healthwise. A sports where we can excel and have a good fighting chance to become Champions in international competitions.

Together with the U.P. Table Tennis Association, we are organizing the 1st NATIONAL INVITATIONAL LIHA and HARDBAT TABLETENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS from April 29 to May 1st, 2011 at SM Marikina City. We are pleased to invite you and/or your TEAM to be part of this momentous event.

Final results of this tournament will be used as one of the basis for national (Liha/Hardbat) ranking and reference for international competition as well.

The 1st National Invitational Liha and Hardbat Table Tennis Championships will be organized by the New Marikina Table Tennis Club, Inc. in cooperation with the U.P. Table Tennis Association.

1. DATE AND PLACEThe tournament will be held in the following venue:

29 April to 1 May 2011: SM Marikina Cyber Zone

2. EVENTSThe following events will be played:Event 1: Liha - InternationalEvent 2: Liha - NationalsEvent 3: Liha Class AEvent 4: Liha Class BEvent 5: Liha Class CEvent 6: Hardbat - NationalsEvent 7: Liha age group - 60 and above

• For this event, a special ruling will be announced once it is finalized in coordination with the event organizers. In addition, seedings will be done for this tournament. Also, there will be qualifying matches to classify the players ( Events Class A, B, C and nationals)

o THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE WISH TO APPEAL FOR HONESTY AND DISCIPLINE AMONG THE PARTICIPANTS IN REGARDS TO SUBMITTING THEIR ENTRIES FOR A SPECTIFIC EVENT IN A TIMELY MANNER. IT HAS THE RIGHT TO QUESTION THE ELIGIBILITY OF THE PLAYER CONCERNED ESPECIALLY IN REGARDS TO THE PLAYING LEVEL OF THE PARTICIPANT.

4. RULESThe tournament will be conducted in accordance with the current Modified ITTF Laws of Table Tennis.

5. EQUIPMENTThe following equipment will be used:

Table: 5 - 6 International standard tables Net : Standard ( Green or blue)Ball: 38-mm ball ( for national rule) and 40-mm (for international rules)

All racket coverings for the Hardbat event must be of a type currently authorized by the USATT Hardbat Advisory Committee.

6. ELIGIBILITYThe tournament shall be an invitational competition. All eligible players must be duly invited by the Organizing Committee of the 1st National Invitational Liha and Hardbat Table Tennis Championships.

7. FEES Events 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 P 150.00 for each playerEvents 5 and 7 P 100.00 for each player

9. OBLIGATIONSThe entry forms shall contain a statement specifying that the players nominated are willing to compete against any other participant regardless of any condition. The statement must be duly signed by the players and no entry form will be accepted unless such understanding has been agreed upon. A player may withdraw from an event from which he or she has been accepted only for reasons of injury or illness.

10. DRAWThe draw shall be conducted under the supervision of the Technical Committee duly appointed and seedings will be based from the screening done by the event committee.

11. UMPIRESAll matches will be controlled by duly appointed umpires from the New Marikina Table Tennis Club, Inc. and U.P. Table Tennis Association as well as licensed officials by the Table Tennis Association of the Philippines (TATAP).

12. AWARDSThe winning teams and players in the various events shall be awarded medals and their respective cash prizes. Details of these cash prizes are mentioned below:

More so, all participants will be receiving Certificates of Participation.

II. HOSPITALITYParticipants can stay in the various hostels and boarding houses located throughout Marikina. However, accommodation fees and other expenses will not be shouldered by the organizers of the tournament. Discounted prices for the dormitory rates are still under negotiation and interested parties will be informed at a later time. Participants also have the option of staying in other accommodation facilities.

1. TOURNAMENT RULES1. The competition shall be held in accordance with the current rules of the USATT

(USA Table Tennis) for events 1, 6 and 7. and ground national rules on Liha events 2 to 5.

2. A events shall be played individually.3. Other unforeseen occurrence which is not covered by the USATT rules shall be

dealt with in accordance with the Games Organizing Committee where decisions will be finalized

1. INQUIRIESRegistration forms should be submitted on or before April 23, 2011. In the interest of providing a better system of scheduling the matches, participants are obliged to submit their entry forms on the specified date. Late entries will not be entertained and will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.
