1. Circle this week’s sight words in the story.(answer, sentence, too)
2. Underline words with long i, spelled y. (by, cry, dry, fly, flying, sky, Sly, try, Ty, why)
Sly and Ty were the only pigs in Miss Wise’s class. All the other students were ducks. Sly and Ty liked Miss Wise’s class. Sly liked math. Ty liked math, too. Sly and Ty did not like playing outside with the class. The rest of the class liked to play flying games. “Why can pigs not fly?” demanded Mike. Ty and Sly did not answer. ”Say this sentence: Pigs cannot fly!” yelled Mike. “Pigs are not as good as ducks.” Ty wanted to cry. “Pigs can too fly!” yelled Sly. Mike said, “That’s funny. When?” Just then, Hope spoke up. “At the class trip!” said the little duck. “You know we cannot go on the class trip,” Ty and Sly gasped. “It is a flying trip. It’s only for ducks!” But Hope had a plan. “We can help!” said Hope. She nodded at some other little ducks standing by her. After class, Ty and Sly went home with Hope and her pals. They helped to make a plane with wide wings. “Will it fly?” asked Ty. “It will glide if we get it up in the sky,” the little ducks did answer. The day of the class trip was hot and dry. Mike waited for Ty and Sly to try to fly. Ty, Sly, and Hope dragged out the plane. “We can use this rope to help you fly!” explained Hope. Up, up, up went the ducks. Up, up, up went the plane. Up, up, up went Ty and Sly. “The pigs can fly!” yelled the class. The class had fun flying all day.
