Reminder: Three trip slips will be sent home soon for the month of March. The cost of all three trips is $16.Monday 2/6/17 Reading: Bigger Books Means Amping Up Reading Power. 30-40 minutes of
reading. Fill in your reading log. Remember that readers practice their reading voice. As you read tonight, make sure that you are thinking about how the author wants the story to be read. Pay attention to dialogue tags and how characters are feeling. Practice reading in the right voice and reread to make sure it sounds right.
Writing: Narrative Writing. This week, our goal is to get ready for publishing. Go back to a story you have already written or a story you began but did not complete and start to edit/revise your writing. Make sure that your work will be ready for publishing. Use the writing checklist to help you.
Math: Short Response #1.
Social Studies: Social Studies: Civic Ideas and Practices. Read the article, “American Symbols,” and answer the following question: Which American symbol do you think is the best? Why? Give at least two reasons and examples for why this symbol is the best one.
Tuesday 2/7/17 Reading: Bigger Books Means Amping Up Reading Power. 30-40 minutes of reading. Fill in your reading log. Remember that readers scoop up words in longer phrases. Tonight as you read, try to look for punctuation that will help you to read the sentences in longer phrases. Jot down the sentences/phrases that you were able to scoop up and tell how you were able to do it.

Math: Short Response #2.Wednesday 2/8/17 Reading: Bigger Books Means Amping Up Reading Power. 30-40 minutes of
reading. Fill in your reading log. Remember that readers read with expression by noticing dialogue tags and thinking about how characters feel. Tonight, look for the dialogue tags the author uses and stop to think about how your character is feeling. Then, use your best expression voice to read aloud. Jot down what helped you to read with your best expression.
