Prayer for Police Officers
O Almighty God, whose great power and eternal wisdom embrace the universe, watch over all policemen and law enforcement officers everywhere.
Protect them from harm in the performance of their duty to stop crime, robbery, riots and violence. We pray, help them keep our streets and homes safe, day and night. We commend them to your loving care because their duty is dangerous. Grant them strength and courage in their daily assignments.

August 7-12 Each day our Confirmation Candidates and High School teens will learn
about one or more of the Corporal Works of Mercy and how they can live
out this call to serve those who are most vulnerable and in need. Please
pray for them this week as they go out into our community to serve those
in need.
“COME Holy Spirit, replace the tension in us with a holy relaxation. Replace the turbulence in us with a sacred calm. Replace the anxiety in us
with a quiet confidence. Replace fear with strong faith, bitterness with the sweetness of grace, dark with light, and cold with warmth. Straighten our
crookedness. Fill our emptiness. Dull the edge of our pride. Sharpen the edge of our humility. Light the fires of our love. Let us see others
as YOU see them. That we may see YOU as you have promised.”

What have we been doing during July?
Over 350 Visits to nursing / foster care facilities and private homes. Over 150 Communions On the 3rd Thursday and Friday of the month, Fr. Sean held three Holy Masses and offered Confessions. Fr. Sean also held prayer services at the places where no mass was held. Also during July, we hosted the Summer Seminar with Fr. Joe Mallia and Fr. Ben Luedtke. It was a blessed time, and we thank all those involved! Please know we are always in need of volunteers to help us continue this beautiful work. It is especially important in this Year of Mercy! Come in and join us on any Thursday or Friday 9a.m. - 4 p.m.!

Don't know what to volunteer for at the Festival? We'd love to have your help with set-up.
We will be setting up picnic tables, small tents, hanging signs, setting up the stage, hanging lights, setting up the parish hall, etc. Just show up at the parish grounds near the rectory garage on Wednesday, August 10th at 6:00 p.m. - you'll find us!
Other Festival Notices:
☺ The front door of the parish hall will be locked and we will be using the side door of the parish hall as the main entrance to ALL events including meals. If there is a need to use the elevator, assistance can be obtained at the information table.
☺ Due to a previously scheduled wedding on Saturday, August 13th, the parking lot will be closed until 2:00 p.m. Parking will be made available in the back of the school off Gleason & Ow Streets and the side streets on Howard and Franklin. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we have agreed to graciously accommodate our wedding guests.
☺ For the comfort and convenience to all, tables and
chairs will be under the tents this year instead of picnic tables.
☺ For our Polka Lovers - Although no polka band is scheduled at the festival this year, recorded polka music will be played during each of the bands’ intermissions.

Prayer Blanket Ministry News Calling on those who are amateurs and those who
have grown to be an artist...
The Prayer Blanket Ministry touches so many lives in so
many ways and it starts with the construction of them,
whether they are sewn, crochet or knitted.
Currently, the Prayer Blanket Ministry has been blessed
with enough resources to keep busy for some time. The
thing that the ministry is in need of is the gift of time. The
ladies on this ministry team have a wide variety of talents
that they would love to share with anyone who would like to
learn. So if you have been considering sewing, crocheting
or knitting, please visit the ministry team on Wednesday,
October 5th at noon in the Life Center when they
reconvene after the summer break.
Offering an example of Christ by “feeding the hungry.”
Cereal, jelly, pancake mix, syrup, macaroni and cheese, frosting, cake mix, crackers, spaghetti noodles, spaghetti sauce, and 4-roll package of toilet paper are some of the items that the Food Pantry is short of. Food Pantry items can be dropped off at the Parish Office during business hours or on the weekend in the gathering space. Thank you in advance for your generosity. With your help, we offer those in need an example of Christ by “feeding the hungry.”

Back Pack Blessing! We l l , s u m m e r vacation is nearing the end and back to school is right around the corner. To get the school year started off well, please mark on your calendar for the
“Back Pack Blessing” that will be offered on Sunday, August 28th at the 10:30 am Mass. Students of all ages are invited to bring in their school supplies, their back pack or other carrying bag and have them blessed.

St. Augustine Festival Craft and Vendor Fair
St. Augustine Festival is hosting a Craft and Vendor Fair on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. The fair will take place inside the Parish Hall and tables are available for $25.00 each. For an extra $5.00 you can add electricity. If you or someone you know is interested in being a part of this fun addition to our Festival, please contact the parish office for a registration form or go to our website: staugustinecatholicparish.org.
St. Augustine Festival Gift Basket Raffle
We are looking for parishioners, their friends, and families to make up and donate “gift” baskets for the raffle. Please fill the baskets or a suitable type of container with new gift items of your choice. Be inventive - create a theme!
Empty baskets are being provided, if you need them, at the back of church, along with all necessary information, including suggestions and ideas for your basket.
