From the desk of the Administrator Like the song from the old Bugs Bunny car-toons, “Overture, curtains, lights, This is it, the night of nights. No more rehearsing and nursing a part; we know every part by heart. Overture, curtains, lights, this is it, you’ll hit the heights! And oh what heights we’ll hit! On with the show this is it!”* As we celebrate Palm Sunday, we enter into the most important week of the year, Holy Week. APRIL 14, 2019 PALM SUNDAY

Parents of Young Children Through its Literacy for Young Children, our parish’s Ladies of Charity has made available an assortment of religious board books for preschool children (ages 1 to 5) which the children may “read” during Mass. The books are in a basket in the back of church. Please return the books to the basket after Mass.

Parishioners who would like to donate books to the project, please put them in a bag and place them under the table where the basket of books sits. We will catalog the books before they are put out for use. We ask that you provide new or gently-used books for preschool aged children with appropriate religious themes only. Thank you. This Sunday, we celebrate Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion. The liturgy this weekend is really in two parts.

The first part is the commemoration of the Lord’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem. We join with the crowds who welcomed Christ into Jerusalem before he was crucified, waving palm branches and singing “Hosanna!”. The second part focuses on his suffering and death on the cross, a sort of prelude to the rest of Holy Week where we will commemorate those events more deeply and specifically. I encourage you to attend those Holy Week services if you are able! With Palm Sunday today, we do bring to an end our Lenten journey. I hope during this Lent you have allowed Christ to transform you in preparation for the Easter mysteries we will celebrate next Sunday. I hope our liturgies and music during Lent has helped you in this process of transformation.

Yours in ministry, Tom Rishel
