FLAMES 2016-17 PLAYER BIOSmatchup notesNOTES AND ANECDOTES - LIBERTY VS. NJIT

• Liberty and NJIT enter ASUN Conference play heading in diff erent directions. The Lady Flames own the conference's longest active winning streak (fi ve games), while the High-landers have dropped their last four contests.

• Liberty will aim for a bett er start to conference play than its 0-3 start during its inaugural ASUN season in 2018-19. NJIT won its 2018-19 ASUN opener and began 2-1 in conference play before fi nishing with a 3-13 ASUN mark.

• The Lady Flames are playing their fi rst game in two weeks. This is Liberty's longest break between games since a 15-day layoff (Dec. 14 to Dec. 29) during the 2003-04 campaign. The Lady Flames emerged from that break with a 70-62 vic-tory over Loyola (Md.) in the Lafayett e Holiday Tournament.

• Conversely, NJIT just played on Monday, falling 75-40 at Binghamton.

• At 7-6, Liberty brings a winning record into the start of con-ference play for the fi rst time since 2014-15.

• Liberty is 2-4 all-time when playing in New Jersey, having won its last two visits to the Garden State.

• Liberty Associate Head Coach Alexis Sherard grew up in Lakewood, N.J., about 60 miles south of NJIT's campus in Newark.

LAST MEETING WITH NJITMARCH 2, 2019LIBERTY 58, NJIT 39NEWARK, N.J. (NJIT WELLNESS AND EVENTS CENTER)

• Liberty allowed a season-low 39 points in their fi rst-ever visit to NJIT, propelling the Lady Flames to victory during their fi nal road game of the 2018-19 regular season.

• NJIT was within four points (25-21), 1:58 before halftime. Liberty then broke the game open with a 15-0 run that spanned both halves, sparked by nine KK Barbour points.

• Barbour fi nished with 15 points, nine rebounds and six as-sists for the Lady Flames, while fellow post player Bridgett e Rett statt tossed in 20 points and grabbed eight boards. Lib-erty dominated the Highlanders in rebounding (44-26) and points in the paint (30-14).

ROAD WARRIORS

• Saturday marks game No. 5 of the Lady Flames' longest road swing of the 2019-20 season. Liberty will play six consecu-tive games away from Lynchburg and will go more than a month between home contests. The Lady Flames are 4-0 on the trip thus far.

• The road trip will see Liberty play in fi ve diff erent states (Virginia, Pennsylvania, Missouri, New Jersey and Florida) against opponents from fi ve diff erent conferences (Big South, NEC, Missouri Valley, WAC and ASUN).

• The trip will feature nine total fl ights through eight diff er-ent airports (Lynchburg, Johnstown, Kansas City, Atlanta, Greensboro, Charlott e, Newark and Fort Myers).

STREAKING INTO CONFERENCE PLAY

• Liberty enters ASUN Conference play riding a season-best fi ve-game winning streak. The Lady Flames have not lost since Nov. 30.

• A win on Saturday would give the Lady Flames their longest winning streak since a run of eight consecutive victories between Feb. 17-March 11, 2018.

• Liberty also lost fi ve straight games earlier this season, between Nov. 8-24. The Lady Flames are one of three NCAA Division I women's basketball teams which has posted a fi ve-game winning streak and a fi ve-game losing streak this season, joining Cal Baptist and La Salle.

KEYS TO THE STREAK

• Liberty has been effi cient at the off ensive end during its cur-rent fi ve-game winning streak. The Lady Flames are shoot-ing 48.7 percent from the fi eld and scoring 75.6 ppg, paced by the trio of Emily Lytle (13.2 ppg), Keyen Green (13.0 ppg) and Bridgett e Rett statt (11.4 ppg).

• The Lady Flames have only trailed for a total of 13:06 during the streak and have not been down by more than seven points. Liberty is winning the games by an average of 18.8 ppg.

• The Lady Flames' reserves are outscoring their counter-parts by an average of 14.6 ppg (25.6 to 11.0), paced by Mya McMillian (9.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg).
