ARPS NEWS From the Principal Were back! It has been wonderful this week to see they positivity and engagement of students in their classrooms learning now that students are back at school. We have been so proud of the resilience and optimism of all our students during this period of Remote Learning and wholeheartedly appreciate the efforts of all our parents and carers to ensure students moved smoothly into and then out of Remote Learning prac- tices. Thank you especially to parents for ensuring that all re- sources, pencil cases, books and other resources have been returned to school for classroom use so promptly. This certainly has helped with the getting back to workattitude of our students and the school community. On Tuesday 15 th June, School Council approved the provi- sion of a Student Free Curriculum Day on Friday 25th June, to undertake the Professional Learning, Review and As- sessment tasks that were to occur on 28th May. From the Principal We’re back!

It has been wonderful this week to see they positivity and engagement of students in their classrooms learning now that students are back at school. We have been so proud of the resilience and optimism of all our students during this period of Remote Learning and wholeheartedly appreciate the efforts of all our parents and carers to ensure students moved smoothly into and then out of Remote Learning prac-tices.

Thank you especially to parents for ensuring that all re-sources, pencil cases, books and other resources have been returned to school for classroom use so promptly. This certainly has helped with the ‘getting back to work’ attitude of our students and the school community.

Student Free Day FRIDAY 24th JUNE (& DISCO UPDATE)

In preparation for the recent provision of Remote Learning, schools were directed to utilise 28th May as a ‘Remote Learning’ preparation day. This date was coincidently, the same date that had been planned at ARPS for a Curriculum Day for assessment and our Pre-review Self Evaluation. On Tuesday 15th June, School Council approved the provi-sion of a Student Free Curriculum Day on Friday 25th June, to undertake the Professional Learning, Review and As-sessment tasks that were to occur on 28th May. Student Reporting and Parent Teacher Interviews- NEW DATES REMINDER #2

Many parents would be aware that during remote learning, staff were continuing to conference with students online to complete one-to-one assessments. We aim to have the most accurate Teacher Judgements on our student reports, based on up-to-date evidence and assessment data. Given the circumstances, we have extended the timeline for reporting to parents, with student Semester One reports now due to be released on Compass to parents on Monday 21st June from 4pm.

To provide adequate time for parents to read reports prior to Parent/Teacher meetings, we have moved the Mid-Year Parent/Teacher interviews to early Term 3. Parent/Teacher meetings will now occur on Wednesday 21st July. These meetings will occur either by WebEx or in person (depending on any possible re-strictions in place at the time). Parents can book these meeting times on Compass. The booked times will re-main in place, with the location (onsite/ in person) to be decided closer to the date.

Please visit Compass online to book a Parent/Teacher meeting time to for your child/ren: https://albanyrise-ps-vic.compass.education/

Whole School Musical ‘The Fantastic Journey’ Auditions for ‘Main Cast’ students in our bi-annual whole school musical are imminent with the distribution of the script to interested year 5 and 6 students this week. We are planning to present the Musical at the Wellington Secondary College Auditorium in Sep-tember this year. Mrs Jenny Lang, our talented Performing Arts teacher, has created the script for this performance and chosen some great songs for students across the school to sing and dance to.

Early next term, all students will be taking part in dance choreography lessons from professional dance teach-ers through ‘Stomp’ Dance Company. Information will be sent out on Compass regarding the timing of the 5 sessions, which commence from Week 1, Term 3.

VSSS We are so proud of the group of students who are involved in rehearsals and planning for our inclusion in the Victorian State School Spectacular this year. This group of students have agreed to commit to weeks of re-hearsals leading up to the event, as well as attending offsite practices with the many other schools involved in the event.

It is a huge opportunity and commitment for these students and I know they will make the best of this oppor-tunity to perform to parents and schools from across the state later in the year. Updates about performance arrangements, with COVID safe practices, will be sent to parents as they are made available. T-shirts are due to be purchased by all those students taking part, with orders going in tomorrow. (This is the final date for or-ders- not later orders can be accepted for VSSS participants).

Interschool Sports, Camps, Incursions and Excursions, Extra Curricula The current Schools Operation model (which is regularly revised), allows Camps to proceed for metropolitan schools, provided that the camp has not other schools on site at the same time. We are excited to confirm that our Year 3&4, and Year 5&6 camps are currently still going ahead as planned. Unfortunately, events such as interschool sports, off-site excursions and face-to-face incursions are not able to happen during the current restrictions.

Additionally, face-to-face extra curricula activities such as instrumental music classes, afterschool coding clas-ses, choir and some other individualised and group activities, are also not able to be provided at this time. We are looking forward to being able to provide these extra curricula options as soon as the restrictions are lifted.

Breakfast Club continuing Education Department advise to schools confirmed last week that Breakfast Club is regarded an essential ser-vice to schools, and the program is to remain in place during these current restrictions. Our Breakfast Club stu-dent leaders and Micheala Megroz (staff member) have been busy ensuring all students can attend breakfast club on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and receive a range of breakfast options whilst still adhering to CovidSafe practices. Our school is very pleased to be able to offer this option to all of our students.

Enrolments for 2022 We are continuing to accept enrolments for 2022. Any families who are inte nding to enrol for 2022 are encouraged to do so as early enrolment assists with our planning and provision.

School Song

We love to sing and we love to play

We talk in Mandarin

Surf the internet all day.

We love to kick a ball, we love to skip and run

We love to shoot a hoop

Everything we do is fun

‘Cause we’re a great bunch of kids at Albany Rise

The teachers they’re great too.

We’re helpful and friendly at Albany Rise

We’re the jade and navy blue

We learn to read and we learn to write

We’re shown how to be a friend and we’re taught not to fight.

We learn to work together

We learn to get along

We love our school

That’s why we sing this song.

Repeat chorus

This is the 1999 Yr 6 class who helped create the Albany Rise school song. The students

had to come up with ideas that they wanted included in the song and then voted on

which ideas they liked and could rhyme.

We are still singing that school song loudly and proudly in 2021!!
