Where did the S’more come from?

Just where and when did s’mores come from? The word is condensed version of the phrase “Some More” – a dessert first introduced by the Girl Scouts in the 1920s. The first recorded appearance of a s’more recipe can be found in the 1927 “Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts.”

Cherry Republic

Look for S’More Cherry Mix at Cherry Republic in Glen Arbor, Traverse City, Charlevoix or Ann Arbor (or, online of course). Nothing says Northern Michigan like roasting s’mores over a great bonfire on a starlit night. Now you can have that great taste without flaming marshmallows. The S’more Cherry Mix includes graham snacks, double chocolate

dipped cherries and a packet of marshmallows. Just mix them all together, shake and enjoy the taste of summer!

Short’s Brewing

One of the more unique beers at Short’s Brewing in Bellaire is the S’mores Stout – a complex beverage brewed with graham cracker, milk chocolate, marshmallow and smoked malt. According to the label, “the rich hearty flavors seem to take their turn as the subtle graham aromas lead pleasantly into sweet flavors of marshmallow cream covered in milk chocolate. All is followed by a slight lingering flavor of smoke when you add a flaming marshmallow garnish, which is strongly encouraged.” Unfortunately, this flavor isn’t available until November.
