THE HOLOCAUST The Holocaust is the
most important event in WWII because it destroyed millions of lives and ended many others. Hitler’s hatred for the Jews is what unified Germany, and made them such a strong force in the war.
PEARL HARBOR Pearl Harbor is so important to WWII
because it brought the United States into the war, as well as hastened war production.
THE ATOMIC BOMBS The importance of the
Atomic Bombs is great because it destroyed two cities and brought a quick end to the war. This was also the first and only time that this weapon was used, now we know its horridly destructive power.
WAR PRODUCTION War production is
important to the war because it unified America, and you can not have a war without equipment. Also, we supplied Britain with supplies before we joined the war, they would have been unsuccessful without us.
THE BATTLE OF THE ATLANTIC The Battle of the
Atlantic is higher on the list of the most important events because we needed to keep travel routes open between Europe and ourselves. Without the supplies traveling to Britain we would not have been able to join the war later.
BATTLE OF BRITAIN The Battle of Britain is important
because it stopped Hitler’s advances. It also brought the bombing of civilian areas into the war for the first time.
GERMANY SURRENDERS This is so important because it allowed
us to focus all of our efforts on Japan and ended the war in Europe.
JAPAN SURRENDERS Japan surrendering is important
because it ended the war.
BATTLE OF STALINGRAD The Battle of Stalingrad is a main event
in WWII because it was the turning point of the war in Europe.
BATTLE OF MIDWAY The battle of Midway is important
because it was the turning point in the war in the pacific. It was the furthest we allowed Japan to advance.
D-DAY D-Day was the largest land-air-sea
operation in military history. It also gave us a starting point to attack Germany from the western front.
SELECTIVE SERVICE Selective service was important
because without the men gained and trained from this we would not have the troops to fight the war.
WOMEN WORKING Women working was important
because with the men fighting the war, we needed women to work in the jobs that were left open by the men. Also, it empowered women and led towards civil rights for women.
OKINAWA The Battle of Okinawa was one of the
bloodiest battles of the war. It also gave us a point from which we could invade Japan’s mainland if we needed to.
BATTLE OF THE BULGE The Battle of the Bulge is important
because it proved to be the last great German offensive. We were able to push their front line back considerably. After that battle the majority of Nazi leaders knew that they would not be able to win the war.
