Alenia Composite 787 Production Line is based upon Lean Manufacturing Principles :
Takt Time and line balancing:Optimization of people and part flowPoint of use for parts, raw material and hand toolsFull KittingVisual Control5S (Sort, Simplify, Sweep, Standardize, Self discipline) ApplicationA lean promotion with skilled people with the objective to identify opportunity areas for improvement and perform and follow up lean workshopsA Plant Automation Project to manage and help with I.T. the production engineers and managers to be monitor production, maintenance and transportation in “real time” and adopt timely countermeasures
Alenia Composite and Lean Enterprise Principle
Alenia Lean Approach The nine tactics
altrols
1. Understand how the value flows
2. Balance the line
3. Standardize working methods
4. Use simple visual controls
5. Locate at the “Point of use”
6. Use feeder lines
7. Redesign radically products and processes
8. Transform in a pulse line9. Transform in a moving line

QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
• Alenia Composite Quality Management System has been defined and documented in compliance with the following Standard:
EN 9100: 2003 “Aerospace Series – Quality Management System Requirements”
• Quality Management System Certification has been released on November 23rd, 2006 by UNAVIACert (I.C.O.P Scheme)
Certificate nr 110

System for the automatic management of identification, traceabilityand usability parameters for TATS (Time and Temperature Sensitive) materials
Total management of carbon fibers (rolls) required for the BOEING “B787 DreamLiner” programme and addressed to all the Alenia Aeronautica manufacturing plants involved, by taking into account the specific layout and the existing infrastructures
The system is in line with the BAC5657 and relevant BMS requirement

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PLAN
A Quality Improvement Plan has been established for 2008 to increase the performance of some processes and activities identified by Alenia Composite and Boeing.
The method used to analyze the processes and define the improvement plan is the “cause-effect diagram”
The achievement of the QIP objectives are systematically monitored to assure their successfull accomplishment.
