1989AUT division

As part of its reorganization, Siemens AG integrates WMV

into its AUT division.

1991Global service and

support networkExpansion of global operations to Southeast Asia and establishment

of a global service and support network.

1992SIPLACE

The first placement machine carrying the SIPLACE name is

introduced.

1997PL EA

The AUT 5 division becomes Siemens PL EA (Production and

Logistics, Electronic Assembly Systems)

History Roadmap1986HS-180/SP-120Optimizing the placement work-flow leads to significant improve-ments in speed.

1990MS-102/MS-132With innovative developments, Siemens continues to be a step ahead of its cometitors.

1992SIPLACE S-13/S-20/S-25 HM/S-27 HMThe first placement machines carrying the SIPLACE brand name hit the market. SIPLACE’s first high-speed SMD placement system reaches speeds of up to 26.500 cph.

1993SIPLACE F4/F5/F5 HMFlexibility and accuracy available on the same machine for the first time: high-speed placement of up to 11,000 complex components per hour.

1999SIPLACE HS-50 and HS-60The high-speed SIPLACE HS-60 placement system combines high performance with flexibility and accuracy.

2000Global market leader

SIPLACE becomes the global market leader. The company has

sold over 10,000 SIPLACE place-ment machines in total.

2001Siemens Dematic AG

SIPLACE (PL EA) is spun off and operates as a separate company

under the name Siemens Dematic AG.

2002Munich SIPLACE

HeadquartersThe construction of the new

Munich headquarters at Rupert-Mayer-Strasse is finally complete.

2004L&A EA

SIPLACE (SD) is integrated into Siemens AG as its L&A EA

business unit.

2005Siemens Automation

and DrivesL&A transfers the Electronics

Assembly Systems Division to Siemens Automation & Drives

(A&D EA).

Production facility in Singapore

Official start of operations of the first SIPLACE production facility

in Singapore.

2003SIPLACE HF and HF/3Equipped with three gantries, the SIPLACE HF/3 places over 40,000 components per hour with high flexibility and maximum pre-cision – a performance that was considered outstanding in its time.

2004SIPLACE CS/CFFirst fast, flexible and compact placement machines designed especially for medium-sized companies.

2005SIPLACE X-SerieThis revolutionary platform enab-les manufacturers to double their placement performance. With the SIPLACE X-Series, SIPLACE once again demonstrates that it is the industry’s technology leader.

2009SIPLACE Electronics

Assembly SystemsIn a so-called “carve-out”,

SIPLACE is transferred into a separate company named

SIPLACE Electronics Assembly Systems under the roof of the DT

division of Siemens’s Industry sector.

2011ASM Assembly Systems

SIPLACE is integrated under its new name ASM Assembly

Systems into the ASMPT Group as a separate business unit for

surface-mount technologies. W.K. Lee, CEO of ASMPT, and Günter Lauber, CEO of SIPLACE (left to right), agree: With its new struc-

ture, ASM Assembly Systems ide-ally pairs the customer orientation and flexibility of a mid-sized com-pany with the innovative strength and stability of a major group. In

addition, both parties benefit from the combination of Asian flexibility

and German engineering.

2006SIPLACE D-SerieThe predecessor of the SIPLACE Di-Series combines innovative features with proven technology to offer an attractive price-perfor-mance package.

2007SIPLACE X4iWith a speed of up to 120,000 cph, the SIPLACE X4i is the world record holder in terms of real-life performance.

2009SIPLACE SX-SerieThe capacity-on-demand placement solution for high-mix SMT production:The SIPLACE SX places scalabi-lity and flexibility above all. With the SIPLACE SX, users can intro-duce new products more quickly, change setups without interruption and produce the widest range of lot sizes with consistent producti-vity and efficiency.

SIPLACE CACombined SMT and bare-die placementTruly unique: die placement directly from the wafer and clas-sic SMT placement on a single machine. With the SIPLACE CA, you can populate products with bare dies (flip-chip and die-attach) without die-bonding on the SMT line.

2011SIPLACE DX-SerieThe SIPLACE DX was developed especially for requirements of the Asian market and offers an unbeatable price-performance ratio.

SIPLACE SX4As a high-speed module, the SIPLACE SX4 with its four gantries completes the SIPLACE SX platform and sets new standards with regard to performance per square foot, an investment criterion that is often critical.

2012ASM Back End Systems

As part of the integration of ASM Assembly Systems into ASM Pacific Technology, the Euro-pean activities of ASM PT are integrated into ASM Assembly

Systems in order to benefit from the SIPLACE team’s strong posi-

tion in Europe and its excellent support network. The activities are renamed to ASM Back End Systems, effective immediately.

2013Factory of the Year

ASM Assembly Systems and the SIPLACE team win the presti-

gious “Global Excellence in Ope-rations Award” for the continuous

improvement of their placement machine production in Munich

and their global supply chain management process. The award

is part of the respected “Factory of the Year” contest.

2013SIPLACE Print AFlexible screen printerWith the SIPLACE Print A, SIPLACE presents for the first time a flexible screen printer that was designed especially for the requirements of SIPLACE SMT lines.

SIPLACE X-Serie: SIPLACE X3 Sand SIPLACE X4 S/X4i SThe ultimate SMT production lineThe ultimate solution for deman-ding production requirements: For high-volume manufacturers who refuse to compromise in terms of flexibility and quality, the new SIPLACE X-Series is the ideal placement platform. Among electronics manufacturers, the SIPLACE X-Series is considered the reference wherever maximum speed and absolute precision are required (mobile phones, tablets, notebooks, LED placement, etc).

SIPLACE DiThe price-performance leaderOur platform for small to medium-sized production environments. A combination of hardware and soft-ware that sets the standards for efficiency, reliability, component spectrum and placement accu-racy in this product category.
