A Record Gathering of Steampunks – The AshesRather than have an outside body tell Steampunks who has gathered the most of us into one place (and have to pay for the privilege) we are now establishing the Steampunks Gathering Record. The rules are simple:1 Steampunks attempting the record all need to gather in one defined space such as a hall or fenced area.
2 The space should be empty when the attempt begins and as each person enters they should pass by a panel of adjudicators/counters.
3 This panel should consist of at least three members of the newly formed Steampunks Gathering Committee and at least one must come from the existing record holder’s attempt to show continuity.
4 Each steampunk entering the gathering must be dressed distinc-tively steampunk as adjudicated by the panel. They must be wearing a hat, fascinator or a pair of goggles on their head and they must have some form of clearly steampunk accessory, gadget or jewellery. (Which could be the aforemen-tioned hat, fascinator or goggles.).
5 Once counted in they must all stand still for a countdown of thirty seconds signalled by a whistle or bell at the start and finish of the count.
This event will be accompanied by a ceremonial burning of a copy of the more commonly known book of world’s records, ashes from which will be placed into receptacles sig-nifying this new steampunk record. This is a fun feature for the benefit of Steampunks.☛
