From the Pastor:
Did you happen to catch Pope Francis this past week? As Vatican Radio translated it, on Sunday he said that:
Christ wants the Holy Spirit “to set alight our hearts and make us capa-ble of loving.” This fire, he explained, “has a creative strength that puri-fies and renews… it burns up every human misery, every egoism, every sin, it transforms us from within, it regenerates us.”
He explained that “if we open ourselves completely to the action of the Holy Spirit, He will give us the courage and the fervor to announce Je-sus and his consoling message of mercy and salvation to everybody, navigating in the open seas without fear.” "But the fire begins in our hearts."
He then went on:
the “Apostolic courage that the Holy Spirt ignites in us like a fire helps us to surmount walls and barriers, it makes us creative and it spurs us to set forth, journeying along unexplored or uncomfortable roads, offering help to whoever we encounter.”
Now more than ever, the Pope continued, there’s a need for priests, consecrated people and lay Christians to feel compassion and reach out like good neighbors to others, “those who are suffering, the needy, the many human miseries and problems, the refugees.”
When you read the news and watch our politics – and see the human misery in the streets and maybe even in our homes – consider this all an invitation for you to have apostolic courage. The world needs you to live the Christian life you profess. Offering help to whoever we encoun-ter. Going out to the peripheries, as Pope Francis often says. During this jubilee of mercy, find new ways to give love.
With love and prayers, Fr. Francis

Class assignments and the school schedule have been emailed to all registered fami-lies. Please respond to the email you received to confirm your child’s attendance. Please call the school office at 365-2141 if you have any questions.
Parents with children entering 1st Grade: With all the other things you have to prepare your child for school, it is easy to forget to register for religion classes. Guidelines for Reserving Masses We are happy to share that the guidelines for reserving Masses introduced this year have made it possible for many more mem-bers of our parish family to remember their loved ones on days and dates that are meaningful for them. Your understanding and support is sincerely appreciated. In the Christian spirit of loving and helping each other, please note the following: 1. With the agreement of both persons who are requesting a Mass, the Mass can be offered for TWO intentions. When you come
to the rectory to request a Mass you will be asked if you would agree to sharing that Mass with someone else for whom that day is significant. If you do, a note will be made in the Mass book. The Mass is a most powerful prayer and God will bless your kindness, understanding and generosity of spirit.
2. During the first week the Mass book is open, M - F, an individual or household may reserve up to three weekend Masses. There is no limit on the number of reservations for weekday Masses, including Saturday at 9 AM.
3. You may call the rectory (359-1230) during business hours ( summer 9-Noon) to reserve a Mass and then follow up with your donation. Please remember, however, that when the Mass book first opens there may be significant wait time as the secretary attends to those in the office.
While some additional work remains to be completed on the bell tower, we are delighted to an-nounce that thanks to the efforts of so many members of our parish family who gave generously of both their time and resources, and supported numerous parish events, the renovations of the interior of our beloved Chapel are complete. We are so blessed to have this prayer-filled, peaceful place for daily Mass and to spend some time with Jesus. Please stop in to visit!

Children’s Corner: Today’s Gospel
Following the rules never seems to be very fun. We always want to do what we are told we can’t. It can be hard to understand why God and others who say they love us and want us to be happy make rules that keep us from doing or having things that we want.
Today’s readings are about the importance of following the rules and how happy we will be if we do. Jesus talks about entering through a narrow door. He means that it will not be easy to follow the rules but if we do, we will get through that narrow door and get into His house/heaven where there will be an awesome party. (adorers.org)
Parents are a child’s first
teachers. Please take a few
minutes to share the mean-
ing of today’s Gospel with
yours.
